Around LISD......
BBQ Team Place First!
Are you full of turkey? Let's talk BBQ! Our LHS Lobo Pitmasters won the Graham Texas Regional Cook-Off and qualified for State! They placed 1st in Graham out of 21 teams, and we couldn't be more excited! Culinary Teacher Khris Oaks and Assistant Principal David Burton sponsor these students and have been up before the sun on many different days, with the smell of their cooking wafting into the building! Their early morning hours paid off because they took 1st place with their dessert, 2nd place with their beans, 3rd in the ribs category, and 9th with their chicken. Each student also received a $3,000 scholarship to the culinary school of their choice. Wow! This is delicious and we can't wait to see what you do at State in 2024!

Camp Capitol
Camp Capitol was such a fun time to spend with family! Capitol #expectsexcellence and there was reading, tents, math, engineering, logic, design, art, games, the Book Fair, a campfire, and hotdogs! We are thankful for all the families that made it out to spend time learning and having fun! Thank you to all the Capitol educators for putting Camp Capitol on!
LHS StuCo
Our LHS Student Council represented Levelland High School as an Officer School yesterday at the Regional Leadership Event. Our officers were in charge of helping with the hosting duties of the event. Our LHS Leaders also presented two projects and demonstrated how to run a meeting at the convention. We are so proud of our students. They do amazing things!
Finishing Up Veterans Day...............
Capitol PE Coach Kristy Sanders shares that Capitol students learned about Veterans Day in PE. They worked on improving their overhand throwing skills. They played “Battleship” and “Bombs Away." Battleship allowed them to drive a pretend “Battleship” and try to avoid being attacked. This game worked on throwing a ball at a target. Bombs Away was a fast-paced throwing game to see which side could have the least amount of bombs/balls on their side of the room. Mrs. Sanders, you are always thinking out of the box. We love how you tied in what our soldiers do to keep us safe, while promoting physical activity!
Region 16 Choir Auditions
LHS Choir Director Mrs. Amy Bayer & the Choir hosted the Region 16 Pre-Area contest. In the soprano section, Emily Perez made 4th chair, Shiloh Rios was 10th, and Araseliy Solano was 14th. In the alto section, Michelle Blair made 7th chair. In the tenor section, Alan Martinez made 6th chair, and Andy Kim was 9th chair. In the Bass section, Devin Folger was 13th chair. Emily, Michelle & Alan will move on to the State Audition (Shiloh & Andy are alternates.) We send out congratulations to these amazing kids!
LMS Region & Honor Choir
LMS Choir Director Joshua Ballard & Honor and Region Choir students competed in the Region Contest. Sixth-graders Olivia Ramirez and Aalliyah Ramirez sang in the Honor Choir. Alberto Barrera, MJ Niederhauser, Paula Castellanos, and Coraline Rodriguez sang in the Middle School Region Choir. Mr. Ballard says, "These students earned the privilege to sing with the best of the best from every middle school in the Region last weekend. They spent the day rehearsing and singing, and at the end of the day they performed an awesome concert." Congratulations to these amazing singers! Mr. Ballard was so excited, he had to get in the photos!
Career Prep Class Keeps On
The LHS Career Prep students are always busy with another production. They will definitely have skills to use after high school. Thank you, Mr. Lawson, for leading them on this journey!

Thanksgiving Feasts!
Turkey, gravy, stuffing, potatoes, veggies, pie....right before Thanksgiving kids around LISD were caught having classic Thanksgiving feasts to kick off the holiday.
Turkey Trots!
Our Turkeys are trotting into this week, thankful for the Thanksgiving break! Right before school was out we found some real turkeys, some want-to-be turkeys, and some pretty fast turkeys! It was a cornucopia of amusement as LISD students were involved in Turkey-Trots, winning turkeys & prizes, and gobbling up the fun! https://files.gabbart.com/455/turkeytrots_facebook_video.mp4
Being Thankful!
LMS students in Mrs. Stephanie Luna's class invited the entire LMS to write what they are thankful for on their turkey wall right before Thanksgiving break! Mrs. Luna says, "We love how it turned out!" LMS kids were thankful for everything from Levelland Middle School to their friends and family! We are thankful for all of our LISD students!
