Wolman Elementary Newsletter

News from Ms. Ricks, Principal
This week has flown by at Wolman Elementary! It was wonderful hearing about our Explorers' extended weekend fun! Speaking of fun, our first House Pep Rally of the year held last Friday was a blast! Our Explorers brought their house spirit and we were very appreciative of the parents and community members who came out to support our students during our house parade!
It was great seeing lunch visitors this week! As a reminder, if you would like to visit your child for lunch, please sign up using the lunch visitor link below. Arrival and dismissal are truly getting better and better! Just a few reminders that we'd like to pass along include leaving dogs/pets at home when meeting your child as a biker/walker and ensuring that your tag is visible (see picture below) when in the car line at dismissal. Following the directions of our crossing guards and staying off of cell phones while in the school zone are also very important to our arrival/dismissal procedures running safely and efficiently. We very much appreciate your continued support!
Our students have been doing a tremendous amount of reading and our Read-a-Thon participation has been fantastic! Tomorrow wraps up our Read-a-Thon, so please review the information below for about Read-a-Thon prizes. Curriculum Night will be on Tuesday; this is a night for parents to come and hear all about what our Explorers will be learning this school year! We encourage parents to attend (please see flyer below for specifics)! On September 13th, we will be promoting creativity and courage during "Dot Day"! There is also a flyer below regarding this fun event! Please check out additional school event information and PTA news below! We wish you a wonderful rest of your week!

New Procedures Regarding Lunch Visitors
It was fantastic welcoming lunch visitors this week! As a reminder only parents/guardians, non-school aged children and immediate family listed on the 24-25 Lunch Visitors Parent Permission form are able to visit for lunch. Due to limited space, visitors are limited to 2 visitors per student. Please note the following: Each parent must sign up for their own seat and a separate seat for any non school age siblings. PLEASE REMEMBER when signing up to include your child's name and teacher in the comments. All visitors must show a physical, hard copy government issued ID (driver's license or passport) when you arrive for lunch. We ask that each student be limited to having a lunch visit one day per week to allow all Explorers the opportunity to have a lunch visit. If you are not able to come to lunch after you signed up, please remove your name from the list. Also, please be aware that a few minutes prior to your child's lunch time ending, the monitors will direct your child to join his/her class; this helps with making our cafeteria exit procedures run more smoothly. The following links will guide you in signing up for lunch times to visit your child and with providing lunch visitor permission. Please call 281 234 1700 with any questions. Thank you!
Thank you for your support of our RJWE Read-a-Thon! The Read-a-Thon is wrapping up this weekend after 2 fun weeks of reading and collecting donations for our school. Don't worry- if your child would like to participate, there is still time to enter your child's reading minutes and collect donations. https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/313731303939
At the conclusion of the Read-a-thon, your child will get to "shop" for prizes on their dashboard page and they will be shipped in a few weeks. Thank you for helping build a love of literacy with your child and Happy Reading!
