SCIS Principal Newsletter
December 1, 2022
It's Going to be a Merry December!
I hope everyone has had a great week and is in full holiday mode. We have begun holiday dress up days so please take a look below for information. Both staff members and students are encouraged to participate.
Also, we are adding a new section to this newsletter that I hope will support you all as you organize your student's classwork for each of the content areas. In the section below you will see 2 links, one for 5th grade and one for 6th grade. On each of the links you will see information for all of your student's classes in one spot. We hope this makes navigating information a little more simple and also keeps you fully informed. We also hope this minimizes other emails you may have gotten from each of your student's teachers.
As a gentle reminder, each of these newsletters is also placed at the bottom of our website should you ever need to refer back to them.
I hope you all will take time to visit the Fine Arts festival this weekend (more information below). Our teachers have worked so hard to prepare and it is going to be a fabulous event.
I hope the end to your week is great.
Lovejoy Proud,
Mrs. Halpin

December Safety Tips
1. Sharing the Road with School Buses. In all 50 states, it’s illegal to pass a school bus that has its stop arm out and red flashing lights on. Everyone plays a role in ensuring students get to school safety, so please use caution, and maintain a safe following distance.
2. Bundle Up. When bundling up your child in the morning, make sure your student still has an adequate line of sight and can hear traffic and other noises. Make sure your student can put his arms down.
3. Put Down the Phone. When on snow- or ice-covered surfaces, watch where you are walking, and driving as they might be ice that you can’t see.
4. Just a Little Patience. School bus drivers are very well trained on driving in inclement weather; however, snow and icy roads can slow down even the most experienced driver.
5. Pay Attention to Weather Alerts and School Messages. As hectic as mornings can be, parents should be aware of weather alerts and school cancellations or delays. Bad weather also can lead to early dismissals or a change in bus routes. Make sure to check your school website or local media when inclement weather is expected.

Numana
SCIS PTO wants to be a part of changing the world, so in partnership with SCIS Administration & Staff, we are providing an opportunity to engage in serving the hungry. Working with your students and the SCIS Staff, you’ll package simple, nutritious meals. Everyone contributes: measuring, packaging, and preparing meals for distribution.
The shift is from 6:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Volunteers that are choosing to participate will be required to work the FULL amount of time. Numana will provide training and a "Green Shirt" to all volunteers. Click here to signup.
AFTER signing up, please CLICK HERE to tell us your Name & Shirt Size.
** It is important to note that the students will be divided up into multiple stations. There is NO guarantee that you will work directly with your student. **
We appreciate your understanding and willingness to serve!
