National Truth and Reconcialtion Day .. Wear ORANGE .. on Thursday SEPTEMBER 28TH IN SCHOOL
Saturday, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
This day has been know as Orange Shirt Day too, we acknowledge Canada’s Indigenous history and remember all the children and families whose lives were irrevocably changed through the tragedy that is to be found in residential schools. It is a time to honor those who survived, and to remember those who did not. Wear Orange.
