Before School Supervision
Please do not drop off your student before school unsupervised. Before school supervision begins at 7:30 am at the BACK of the school in the undercover area NOT at the front doors. Before 7:45 am, students can only be at the front of the school if they are under parental supervision. Thank you for helping us keep your student safe.
Please Keep the Car Line Moving
When picking up or dropping off your student in the car line, please do so in a timely manner and pull all the way forward. Your student needs to be able to independently enter or exit your vehicle. The car line is not the place to make a change in your student's dismissal plans or to arrange playdates. If you need extra time to coordinate plans with your student, please pull over and park in a designated parking space. This will keep our traffic flowing and our students safe.
No Dogs on Campus Please
Only service animals, as defined in the Americans with Disabilities Act, serving persons with a disability or animals approved by the superintendent that are part of an approved district curriculum or co-curricular activity are allowed on campus.
Companion and comfort animals are not considered service animals.
Please do not bring your dog on campus to pick up or drop off your student at school. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Back to School Night, Thursday, 9/26/24 at 5:30 pm
Our Archer Glen Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, September 26th from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. This year, we will be doing an open house event and students are welcome to attend with their parents! There will be no set session times, instead families can attend during the open house timeframe that works best for them. Families will get to visit classrooms and pick up a Scavenger Hunt to participate in some of the curriculum activities students have been engaged in, visit our PE/Music/STEM classes, explore the Archer Glen campus, and get information about our parent volunteer group, PAC! Students can submit their completed Scavenger Hunt forms for a drawing to earn $10 to spend at our upcoming Book Fair.
With so many families visiting classrooms during our Back to School Night, this will not be a time for teachers to talk to each family about student progress. Time will be provided for these conversations during conferences at the end of October. Please save the date and plan to join us for a wonderful evening where your students get to show off what they have been learning so far this year!
PAC Dine Out Fundraiser at Menchie's, Wednesday, 9/18/24
Archer Glen Fun Run! Friday, 9/27/24
The Fun Run is not only something students look forward to each year, but it’s also Archer Glen’s largest fundraiser! The Fun Run is scheduled for Friday, September 27. During the Fun Run, students will run around the outdoor Archer Glen track. Parents/Guardians are welcome to watch and cheer on the students during their run!
Each student is encouraged to collect monetary donations to support Archer Glen from family, friends, and neighbors. We collect donations over a two-week period from 9/13/24-9/27/24 (the day of the Fun Run).
Students will be sent home with a fundraising envelope today (9/13/24) that can be used to collect cash/check donations. Donations can also be made online here or via Venmo (@ArcherGlenPAC). Additionally, as a non-profit organization, we are eligible to receive matching gifts from many employer programs. Reach out to archerglenpactreasurer@gmail.com if you need a receipt to submit to your employer for matching gifts.
Please turn in donations as you get them so we can update you on our progress toward our goal!
The money raised goes to support student education and enrichment by providing teachers and administrators with the funds needed to purchase supplies (find out more here). This year our goal is $50,000 and the funds raised will go towards an Archer Glen playground enhancement in partnership with the Sherwood School District. The playground will be installed in the summer of 2025.
Students also earn schoolwide prizes for raising money as part of Fun Run! The prizes are scheduled monthly throughout the school year and include things such as free Kona Ice. The classroom that brings in the most funds also earns a "T-shirt making experience/field trip" with Adam's Screenprint in which the class gets to design their own T-shirt AND go watch it being made!
This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we need your support! To donate please visit our website at http://www.archerglenpac.org/fun-run.html

Chess Club Volunteers Wanted
We are hoping to get Archer Glen Chess up and running again this year starting in mid-October! We need 1-2 more volunteers to make this happen! Your time commitment would be every Thursday morning (that students are in school) from October through April, 7:00 am-7:50am, as well as helping out with 1-2 tournaments if available.
Please reach out to Emily Page, epage@sherwood.k12.or.us if you are interested!
Archer Glen Passport Club
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This year, all students (K-5) at Archer Glen Elementary have the opportunity to explore the world through a program called The Passport Club - which is an effective and fun way to help achieve geographic literacy. Our Kick Off Meet & Greet event will be on Tuesday, October 1st @ 2:20 pm in Archer Glen's Front Lobby.
Each child receives a passport booklet, chooses an individual level of study and collects “stamps” for their passport as they learn some or all of the world’s countries over the course of the school year. Their passports will be held during the year and awarded to the children at the year-end assembly.
Students receive study packets with maps indicating the countries to study, plus some facts about them at the beginning of each month. Special Itinerary projects will be provided as well, but aren’t required.
Students are encouraged to use free time at home and in class to study the maps. Parents, please support your child’s effort and encourage them to study their maps regularly at home. You might want to make this a family challenge!
Once a month students attend a “Check Day” to show off their skills by correctly identifying their countries. Check Days begin on Tuesday, October 15th before school at 7:30am in the Archer Glen Media Center..
Parents should talk to their child and decide the appropriate level of study for the school year. Most students remain in the same level all year, however the program can accommodate upward or downward movement mid-year. Please find the level explanation on the registration form.
This program is dependent upon parent volunteers! We need to test each student within a short time frame (approx. 25 minutes total time) on check day. Our volunteers are essential and so very much appreciated! ☺
If you have any questions, please contact Nadine Bednarski at archerglen.passportclub@gmail.com
Thank you!
Backpack Food Program
As we begin our school year, volunteers at Sherwood Helping Hands are also beginning their work with the Backpacks for Kids program. This program is designed for children and families who may need additional support with nutritious meals at home over the weekends.
Every Thursday during the school year, children enrolled will receive a bag that’s pre-packaged with food before leaving school for the day. All children will receive their bag in a confidential and private manner. If you feel the Backpack Food Program would be helpful for your family or would like additional information, please contact Elisabeth Gardner, School Counselor, at 503-825-5104 or egardner@sherwood.k12.or.us. Enrollment is quick, easy, and confidential.
Nutrition Services Partners with Local Farms
Nutrition Services is partnering with Hood River Organics and Our Table Cooperative to provide students with fresh, organic produce during Oregon’s harvest season! Our salad bars will feature locally-sourced apples, cucumbers, blueberries, cherry tomatoes, Italian prune plums, and strawberries. Our Farm-to-School partnerships and grant funding allow us to continue offering students healthy, delicious options while supporting local small businesses. We’re thrilled to bring these fresh flavors straight from Oregon farms to your child’s plate!
Volunteers
The District will be welcoming volunteers back into our school buildings this year. All volunteers will need to complete and have an approved background check on file prior to volunteering (this must be renewed each school year). The background check process can take 7-10 business days, so please allow sufficient processing time if you are planning to volunteer for a specific event.
HelpCounter Volunteer Information
Our Archer Glen Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is creating an updated email list for school information and other ways to support our school. If you are looking to volunteer at Archer Glen this year, please sign up using the link shared here. If you are new to Archer Glen you will need to create a new login. Past volunteers can use their old sign in. (Please note that this link does not work well on your phone so you will need to use another device).
ALL parents will need to fill out their information again as the system gets updated each fall. The registration will ask some questions about volunteer preferences, please still answer the questions and select all activities you might be interested in learning more about!
You can find out more information about how to sign up for volunteer opportunities at Archer Glen using HelpCounter by visiting Archer Glen PAC's Instagram handle here.
