From the Desk of Mr. Nelson
Dear Families,
The 2023-2024 school year is almost officially in the books! It was an absolute pleasure to get to work with you and your children this year. We hope you are able to take just a moment to marvel at the amazing progress your child has made as you anticipate what next year brings. Kindergarteners will become first graders, where we typically see large gains in literacy skills. First graders will become second graders, the role model “big kids” of CEPS. And, second graders will get to revel this week in not only the end-of-year joy of the last week, but the culmination of their CEPS career. We are so proud of each of our Spartan Star students, and hope you all have a wonderful summer, and make sure to read a lot and get outside!
We would like to give a Spartan Star send-off to the following staff members who will not be returning next school year, for various reasons including retirement:
Becky Heim - Kindergarten Teacher
Lisa Aubey - Kindergarten Assistant
Lisa Bakunowicz - 2nd Grade Assistant
Jeff Schleiff - Lunch & Recess Supervisor
Nancy Schwartz - Special Education Assistant
Kristi Davis - Kindergarten Teacher (one-year leave-of-absence)
Jana Mueller - 1st Grade Teacher (one-year leave-of-absence)
In addition, we welcome the following staff joining our team next year:
Tiffany Wogsland - Kindergarten Teacher (Former 3rd Grade at WIS)
Sara Everson - Kindergarten Teacher (Former 3rd Grade at WIS)
Brittany Stolarik - Lunch & Recess Supervisor
We welcome your thoughts on the school year and questions about next year. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call, stop in, or send an email at any time. Thank you for your ongoing partnership in your child’s learning journey.
Thank you,
Greg Nelson, Principal & Brooke Hauser, Associate Principal
Last-Day Dismissal Plans
As we look forward to our last day, which is this Thursday, June 6th (a full school day), we ask that you have your child go home in the manner they typically would on any other given school day (bus, car, daycare van, bike/walk, etc.) and that any special plans begin once your child is home. In previous years, last-day dismissal changes have resulted in a lot of confusion on the part of students, extensive communication between families, teachers, and front office staff needs to be coordinated, and sometimes steps are forgotten and people are not on the same page; this ultimately leads to additional stress for students and their families, along with delays in getting all children home.
Lost and Found items will be donated on Thursday, June 6th.
Please remind your student(s) to come and look in the lost and found for any items that may have misplaced at school. Thank you!

Health Services
Summer School
Please review the following Summer School Health Services information prior to your child's summer school session. Resources and information also available on the MSD Health Service Website. Reminder summer school will be held at CEPS this year (Grades 1-5), please reach out to CEPS or WIS Health Office with any questions.
End of Year Information
As we near the end of the school year and much anticipated Summer break, MSD Health Services is asking that you please review the following Health Services End of Year information . If your student currently has medication at school, you will find pick up information in this document. If your student's medication is NOT picked up by the end of the day on the last day of school, Thursday, June 6th, it will be sent to the CEPS Health office for summer school and pick up will need to be coordinated from that school. Please complete and return the Medication Release Form to the health office, also available in the health office and MSD Health Service Website. Please reach out with any questions. Thank you!
