Empowering Minds, Nurturing Hearts: Prioritizing Student Wellbeing for a Brighter Future
In the realm of education, the most profound lessons are often taught not through words but through the grace of understanding and compassion. I'd like to share a heartwarming story that beautifully captures the essence of what it means to truly teach and guide our students.
An old man meets a young man who asks:
“Do you remember me?”
And the old man says no. The young man then tells him that he was his student, and the teacher asks:
“What do you do, what do you do in life?”
The young man answers: “Well, I became a teacher.”
“Ah, like me” says the old man.
“Well, yes. In fact, I became a teacher because you inspired me to be like you.”
The old man, curious, asks the young man how he decided to become a teacher. And the young man tells him the following story:
“One day, a fellow student, came in with a nice new watch, and I decided I wanted it and I was able to steal it from him when he took it off and placed it on his desk. Shortly after, my friend noticed it was gone and alerted our teacher, you, who immediately addressed the class: ‘This student’s watch has been taken during class today. Whoever stole it, please return it.’
I didn’t give it back because I didn’t want to. Then you closed the door and told us all to get up and that you were going to search our pockets one by one until the watch was found. But you told us to close our eyes, because you would only look for his watch if we all had our eyes closed. So we did, and you went from student to student, and had them empty their pockets. When I emptied mine, you found the watch and took it.
You kept checking everyone’s pockets, and when you were done you said ‘open your eyes. We have the watch.’ You didn’t say anything to me and you never mentioned the episode. You never said who stole the watch either. That day you saved my dignity forever. It could have been the most shameful day of my life. I decided right there and then that I would never do anything like that again. You said nothing to me, nor even scolded me or took me aside to give me a moral lesson.
Nonetheless I had received your message clearly. And thanks to you, I understood what a real educator needs to do. Do you remember this episode, professor?
And the professor answers: ‘I remember the situation, the stolen watch, which I was looking for in everyone’s pocket, but I didn’t remember you, because I also closed my eyes while looking.’
This is the essence of teaching:
“If to correct you must humiliate; you don’t know how to teach “

Dear mam,
As a parent, finding the right school for our child was one of the most important decisions we made. From the moment we walked into Bodhi International, we knew we had found the perfect environment for our child’s growth and development. The teachers are incredibly dedicated and truly care about each student’s success, both academically and personally.
Our both the children has not only excelled in their studies but has also grown in confidence, creativity, and social skills. The school fosters a strong sense of community and values, and we appreciate how they nurture a love of learning. The wide range of extracurricular activities allows our child to explore their passions and talents beyond the classroom.
We are grateful for the open communication between the school and parents, making us feel involved and informed every step of the way. It’s a relief to know that our child is in a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment every day. We couldn’t have asked for a better school experience.

Parents of Vihaan Kumbhat - GRADE 9
When we first heard the phrase, “Wow! Your child goes to BIS? That’s a very good school!”, we couldn’t agree more. Our journey with BIS began when my son, Vihaan Kumbhat, started school from day one on the BIS campus, and each year since has been filled with enriching experiences.
The school’s teaching methods, combined with a compassionate and dedicated staff, have played a crucial role in shaping our child’s development. New students settling into the school were warmly embraced by the teachers, who dealt with every concern with utmost love and care. From the very beginning, with the International curriculum , BIS offered a wide range of co-curricular activities, which we were thrilled about.
When it was time for Vihaan to transition to formal schooling in Grade 1, there was no question in our minds about where he should go. The constant exposure to competitions, activities, and co-curricular programs at BIS helped build his confidence, improved his fluency and vocabulary, and eliminated any stage fright.
We could never have imagined that children could be educated without physically attending school, but the year 2020 proved otherwise. Like many parents, we were anxious and skeptical about online classes during the pandemic. However, we were truly amazed by how seamlessly the entire BIS team managed the transition. The teaching, administrative, and technical staff worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth learning experience for the students. Teachers went above and beyond, preparing detailed PPTs, organizing lessons to maximize the 40-minute sessions, offering extra classes when needed, and ensuring that the students were well-prepared for online tests and concepts were thoroughly understood.
We are incredibly grateful to the entire BIS family for nurturing and shaping our son’s personality. Vihaan’s passion for music, particularly the drums, was supported by the exceptional music faculty Mr Prashant Dadhich. Thanks to his dedication, Vihaan has successfully cleared Trinity Level 3 in drumming, earning him the title of the “Drummer Boy” among his peers.
We are deeply thankful to the teachers and the administrative team for their relentless efforts in ensuring every aspect of the school runs smoothly.
Thank you, BIS, for being an integral part of our son’s journey and shaping his personality!

Exploring Play, Emotions, and Rules: A Month of Learning
September has been a fantastic month of learning and discovery as we dove into our new Unit of Inquiry under the theme How We Express Ourselves. Throughout this unit, students explored the world of play, learning about rules, emotions, and the different ways we can express ourselves both indoors and outdoors.
One of the first concepts we explored was the importance of rules in play. Students learned that rules help guide us to play safely and fairly with our friends. Through fun sorting activities, we discussed how different games have different rules, and the children actively engaged in setting up rules for their own playtime activities. This helped build an understanding of structure and fairness in the classroom and beyond.
We explored the differences between indoor and outdoor play, highlighting how we can express ourselves in different environments. Whether through imaginative games inside or physical activities outside, the children were enthusiastic about trying new ways of playing. They learned how to sort activities based on whether they are suited for indoors (such as puzzles, drawing) or outdoors (like running, ball games), adding an additional layer of understanding to their play.
Another key area of inquiry was how we express our emotions through play. Through role-playing, storytelling, and art, students identified a range of emotions such as happiness, sadness, excitement, and frustration. We discussed how it's important to recognize our feelings and express them in healthy ways. Many children expressed their emotions creatively, showing empathy and understanding during group activities.
The students showed great enthusiasm throughout this unit! Whether it was setting up their own games, acting out different emotions, or solving challenges together, their excitement was evident. The collaborative environment encouraged them to share their ideas, express their thoughts, and listen to each other. It has been heartwarming to see them grow not just in their understanding of the world around them but also in their interpersonal skills. They learned how to communicate better, follow rules, and express their feelings openly with their peers.
