MAY 1, 2024 - NEWSLETTER
SLPHS families,
May has arrived! On Saturday, some will be celebrating “May the 4th be with you!” This is exciting for the Star Wars saga fans in our community. While I am not a Star Wars fanatic, I do recall seeing the original movie as a kid, at a theatre in St. Croix, Wi during its first run…I guess I just aged myself!
This morning, I attended the Rotary Club and saw presentations about the impact of student involvement clubs and career engagement opportunities like FCCLA (leadership development club), and Fire Department and Police Department Explorers. It was great to see and hear about the growth students experience with these opportunities. I was so proud of our three FCCLA student presenters. They were professional, mature, and thoughtful.
The month of May is very busy and will go fast. I want to ask for your support in emphasizing with your high schooler(s) the importance of remaining academically focused through the end of the year. I too often see students get distracted and off task leading to a lot of make ups and unneeded stress in the last weeks of the trimester. I often tell students the easiest time to do something is the first time. Procrastination leads to pile ups and that is unhealthy for all learners. Please reinforce the importance of staying on task at school and avoiding distractions - like cell phones - at school.
Thank you as always for your ongoing support and partnership. One school, one community, #SLPPantherProud!
Matthew Boucher
Principal

Read about some of their future plans, favorite experiences, accomplishments and what makes them Panther Proud! Each week, we will share student spotlights as we celebrate the Class of 2024.
