We’re thrilled to welcome in our families this week for our school conferences and excited to share about the many fun and engaging events coming up! This is a wonderful opportunity to connect, share, and celebrate your child’s growth and achievements. Your partnership is invaluable, and we’re excited to discuss how we can continue to support each student’s learning journey together.

As we look ahead, we’re also gearing up for some fun activities and memorable school events including: Silly Sock Day, Veterans Day, and of course - Our school Read-A-Thon!

Third-grade students will be taking Ohio’s English Language Arts exam on October 22 and 24. The testing will begin in the morning, so students who arrive late to school will need to attend a retesting session because teachers are not allowed to interrupt the testing once it begins. Please make sure to avoid appointments on these two days so your child can be at school for the tests.

Students in second grade will be taking the InView Cognitive Ability Test in November. Second grade students will take the test in two parts on November 12 and 13. To learn more about the InView test, click here.

Primary School student fees for the 2024-2025 school year were posted to student PowerSchool accounts earlier in September. The $16.25 school fee includes a District Technology fee and covers consumable items such as Scholastic magazines. Payment can be made online at PaySchoolsCentral or mail a check made payable to the New Albany Primary School to:

Lost and Found season is upon us: the mornings are cool and the afternoons are warm, which means that sweatshirts and jackets are taken off and forgotten about. If your child has the tendency to do this, please write their name on the tag of their outerwear, and remind them to look for their missing item in our Lost and Found!

We are excited to announce the date of our upcoming Veterans Day assemblies! If there is a veteran in your family, please invite them to join us to be honored at the assembly on Monday, November 11. The assembly times will follow this schedule: blue/yellow hallways 9:30am - 10:15am, and green/purple hallways 2:30pm - 3:15pm. Keep your eyes peeled for an RSVP email with more details in your inbox soon!

Additionally, students will be coming home this week with an optional project to complete and return if they choose. If there is a veteran in your child's life, we ask that the child completes this attached flier and return by October 25th. These fliers will be hung in the hallway so discourage the use of any original photo that cannot be replaced.

Our sock collection will continue through October 31st, and we will celebrate the success of Socktober with a silly sock day on Friday, November 1st! All staff and students are encouraged to participate by wearing your coolest, craziest, or mismatched socks.

One of the district’s goals is for all students to feel safe, supported, and connected at school. To help the district focus our efforts on identified needs, students will be taking a short anonymous Belonging Survey during the survey window from November 4 to 5, 2024. Parents can preview the survey for the Primary School by clicking here. The only information collected will be the grade level for each student taking the survey.

In addition to the questions on the Belonging Survey, Primary students will be asked to identify school staff members who they consider to be a trusted adult (the explanation shared with students is that a trusted adult is someone who helps, listens, understands, and makes them feel safe at school). During Wellness classes, primary students will be asked to identify school staff members, verbally or in writing, who they consider to be a trusted adult with the Wellness teachers. The students use their names when identifying staff members at school that they trust. If you would like to learn the staff identified as trusted adults by your child, please email Principal Smith at smith.132@napls.us.

Parents may opt their student out of the Belonging survey by completing this opt-out form. In addition to opting out of the Belonging Survey, parents who complete the form will also be opting out their child from taking the Trusted Adult Survey during Wellness. The Opt-out form must be completed by 5:00 pm on Friday November 1, 2024.

The PTO happily hosted a luncheon for our staff on October 3rd! The meal was generously sponsored by Home Turf Clothing! Check out their website for their unique NA clothing at www.hometurfclothing.com. Local restaurants-Roosters, Mellow Mushroom and Starbucks Hamilton Road-also contributed to the meal. We appreciate all the community support for our five star staff!! A huge thanks to our Primary families who have helped provide items to Stock the Break Room! Our staff is gearing up for Parent-Teacher Conferences and these treats will help them power through the long days ahead.

The Read-A-Thon has officially kicked off! So far, we have read 3,700 minutes! Need an extra push for your reader? The class with the most minutes read, and the class with the most money raised will win a yummy PIZZA PARTY!
