February 14, 2025
Dear Madonna Catholic School Community,
Happy Valentine's Day!
This Valentine’s Day, we can reflect on the message from this Sunday’s Gospel reading (Luke 6:17, 20-26). Jesus teaches that true blessings come from living with love, kindness, and faith. Even when life is tough, He offers us strength and hope. As we celebrate love today, we can remember that the love Jesus shows us is the kind that lasts through challenges and brings true peace and joy.
We strive to nurture your children’s hearts, minds, and spirits by helping them grow not only in knowledge but also in faith. Our goal is to create a school family where love, kindness, and the teachings of Jesus guide us every day. We are so blessed to witness their growth in faith and to help them develop strong, compassionate hearts that reflect Christ’s love.
As we head into a well-deserved long weekend, we hope you have the opportunity to enjoy some restful time with your family. May your days be filled with laughter, joy, and meaningful moments that strengthen your bonds with one another.
We are excited to welcome your children back to school on Tuesday, February 18, as we continue our journey of learning, faith, and growth together. Thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of being a part of your child's education and faith formation as we all remain rooted in Christ.
Wishing you a warm and restful long weekend,
Mrs. Cathy Hinger, Principal
Mrs. Fiona Wimmer, Assistant Principal

Apple Day Delivery - February 12
What is it? APPLE-a-Day is an exciting NEW APPLE Schools’ annual event, designed to celebrate and empower healthy choices in our school communities. This past Wednesday, our grade four students delivered apples to every student at madonna during their DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time after lunch.
Inspired by the saying "An apple a day keeps the doctor away," APPLE-a-Day highlights how small, consistent healthy choices create big impacts, celebrating individual health journeys while promoting support for making "the healthy choice the easy choice."

PARENT COUNCIL
Dear Madonna Families.
As you have a child registered with Madonna Catholic School you are automatically a part of our school council. We are presently in need of some volunteers to sit on the Executive Council to help run the school council.
We are looking to fill 3 positions. Our Chair of the past three years, Kerstin Adamson has stepped down, Vice-Chair, Sheana Aronyk, and Nicole Howes our Secretary are stepping down, and we urgently need replacements to keep our School Council running. The roles are not challenging and Kerstin will provide support for a smooth transition. ASCA (Alberta School Councils’ Association) also offers courses to help you succeed.
School Councils are mandated under the Education Act, and without these roles filled, many important events and funding could be at risk such as Hot Lunch, Hot Dog Day, Family Games Night, Teacher Appreciation and funding for school activities.
Our AGM (Annual General Meeting) is in April where we would encourage you all to attend as we will be voting in these positions. If you're interested or have questions, please contact us at Madonnasces@gmail.com. Please consider stepping up to help us continue supporting our school community!
We need your help to keep Madonna Catholic School a special place for our students and staff!
Thank you and God Bless,
Madonna Catholic School Council
