"Stay in the Loop" 2024-2025 10th Edition
Principal Letter
Last week, our 2nd and 3rd graders reminded us of the true meaning of Christmas through their remarkable performance of Carriers of the Light. Their voices beautifully brought the story of Christ’s birth to life, reminding us that Jesus is the Light of the World. Their message is even more meaningful as we approach the fourth Sunday of Advent, a time to celebrate God’s love shown through the birth of His Son.
Mrs. Smith chose the perfect play to highlight our theme, "Let Your Light Shine." As we light the fourth candle of the Advent wreath this Sunday, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on how we, too, can be carriers of God’s light in our families, our school, and our community.
Miss B and I feel truly blessed to be part of the SPX community. We wish you and your loved ones a blessed and joyful Christmas, filled with the peace and love of Christ. Thank you for being part of the SPX family and for making this year so meaningful. We look forward to seeing you all in the New Year! Now, go and make unforgettable holiday memories with your greatest gifts!
With love,
Lisa Ruth

2nd & 3rd Grade Christmas Concert
Congratulations to our 2nd and 3rd graders for their extraordinary performance of Carriers of the Light, beautifully reminding us of the true meaning of Christmas.
Band and Choir Concert
Our SPX musical dream team, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Tetreault, led an extraordinary Christmas performance that showcased the incredible talents of 115 choir students and 71 band members. The evening featured captivating songs from our Blue and Gold Choirs and impressive performances by our Beginner and Advanced Bands. It also marked the debut of our brand-new Panther Jazz Band, "Pawzazz," and highlighted the talent of our SPX Bell Choir. The remarkable number of students involved in our musical programs is a true testament to the exceptional leadership and dedication of our directors!
Night With Santa
Our Night with Santa was a huge success, and it's all thanks to the incredible vision and planning of our HSA Social Chair, Courtney Main, and Miss B! While the highlight of the evening was definitely a visit with Santa, our students had a blast decorating cookies, making candy cane crafts, writing letters to Santa, and sipping on hot cocoa! A big thank you to our HSA association for sponsoring another amazing community night filled with holiday magic and joy.
The HSA and Mrs. Main (HSA Social Chair) were so surprised and delighted over the fantastic turn out for the first A Night with Santa that they have already scheduled the date for NEXT year! Please save the date!
Spelling Bee
Congratulations to all of our SPX Spelling Bee finalists! A special shoutout to Brennen Noll, our runner-up, and to Cristiano Mampieri, our winner, who will be advancing to the next level of the Scripps Spelling Bee! A huge thank you to Mrs. Trainer for organizing the event and preparing our students for this exciting challenge.
SPX Teachers Make Learning Irresistible!
Polar Express Day
The Kindergarten students had a magical experience last Thursday! They received a special ticket for the Polar Express and took a trip to the North Pole. While at the North Pole, they met with Santa and received a special bell with an inscription (Believe) on it.
All students were engaged in fun activities including making fake snow, building a snowman, playing with a train set, creating graphs, sequencing, and patterns. They ended the day with special guest readers, watching the movie, and eating popcorn.
5th graders learned about plant and animal adaptations and applied their new knowledge by designing a fish. Each group of fifth graders had specific adaptations that they were required to include. Beyond that, they were allowed to get as creative as they'd like!
The 8th graders enjoyed their microscopy lab where they made the most of their lab equipment and Mr. Frase's expertise!
Let Your Light Shine
We Reached Our Goal and Built Our Snowman!
Thanks to the generosity of our amazing SPX families, we collected about 2,000 pounds of canned goods and LOTS of toilet paper for the Bishop Griffin Center and Seton's Food Pantry. Thanks to Mrs. Maloney, Student Council, and members from the St. Vincent de Paul Society for managing this impactful collection.
Thanks to the Pallone Family, owners of Massey's Pizza, for providing a pizza lunch for 80 staff members! Their DELICIOUS pizzas were the perfect kickoff to our Home Alone themed staff game.
Paige Evans and one of her friends collected over 700 pairs of socks to donate to the homeless during the Make A Day event. We are so proud of Paige for shining Christ's light so brightly!
Christmas Parties
Thanks to all of our HSA Class Room Parents for planning such exciting parties and providing such a fun way to send us off to Christmas break!
Staff Spirit Month
December can be one of the most challenging months for teachers, but we kept spirits high by hosting a Staff Spirit Month. Miss B and I recently reflected on how blessed we are—not only to have incredibly talented teachers but also the most spirited staff around. Their creativity and willingness to embrace fun (and sometimes downright silly) activities bring so much joy to your children.
Gala of Giving Teacher Experience
We appreciate Mrs. Maloney, Mrs. Berger, Mrs. Schwab, and Mrs. Farrell for donating an afternoon of crafting as a special teacher experience to the Gala of Giving! We are thankful for the Sigman family for their generous donation which secured their winning bid! Your support makes a difference!
