We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend! In this Sunday's gospel for the Third Sunday of Lent we hear the parable of the fig tree. In it, a man who has planted a fig tree goes to his gardener and remarks:
"For three years now I have come in search of fruit on this fig tree but have found none. So cut it down."
But the gardener refuses, saying "Sir, leave it for this year also, and I shall cultivate the ground around it and fertilize it; it may bear fruit in the future."
We are called - parents and educators alike - to be the gardener, to hold onto hope that, if we cultivate the soil in which our students learn - providing rich academic programs in a nurturing and caring environment - eventually these efforts will bear much fruit. No doubt it can be frustrating and at times may feel practically hopeless, yet we say "try this one more practice problem," "use this one new strategy," "believe in yourself just one more time." "Leave it for this year also," as the gardener says, for when we do so and it does bear fruit, it is all the sweeter.
We hope many of you will join us this evening for the kick-off of our silent auction! We'll be live on the school and parish Facebook pages beginning at 7:00pm.
