The new hours will also ensure that all UCS junior high schools are able to follow the same schedule. Our new hours next year will be from 9:05-3:55.

2025-2026 School Year Health Paperwork
Utica Community Schools are committed to providing a healthy and safe environment for each of our students. A health plan is required to be completed at the beginning of every school year and must be dated after July 1, 2025, to be valid for the 25-26 school year. Health plans should be completed for any condition that may involve special dietary considerations, activity accommodations, medications, or treatment of urgent problems. Completion of health plans allows our staff to take the best possible care of your child. A physician signature is required on all health plans. Any medications that are to be distributed by school staff or used by your student at school must have an Authorization for Medication completed and signed by a physician, including any over-the-counter medications, and be brought in by an adult. A separate Authorization for Medication form must be completed for each medication (only one medication per sheet).
Below is a list of common health concerns and the paperwork required. Please note that you only need to complete and return the forms that apply to your child’s specific health concern.

2025-2026 Calendar
Many families and staff members have been inquiring about the first day of the 2025-26 school year. By law, key dates included in school district calendars are subject to collective bargaining.
We recognize the importance of planning family schedules as they relate to the start of school. While productive and collaborative negotiations are continuing, we are making the following dates available at this time:
August 25, 2025 NO SCHOOL – Professional Development
August 26, 2025 First Day of School for Students (1/2 day Elementary; Full day Secondary)
August 29, 2025 NO SCHOOL
September 1, 2025 NO SCHOOL – Labor Day
September 17, 2025 NO SCHOOL – Professional Development
In addition, select vacation dates – such as Thanksgiving, Winter Break, and Spring Break - are aligned with the Macomb County Common Calendar. Please note – the final negotiated agreements may result in additional days connected to these breaks.
The above information has been added to our district website.
Technology
Technology device insurance for the 2025-2026 school year will be available for purchase via PaySchools Central between Monday, August 11, 2025 and Friday, September 5, 2025. The price will remain at $20 per device.
All Star Strong Family Focus
Dear Beacon Tree Families,
We’re excited to kick off a fun end-of-year project for our students, the All Star Buddy Summer Adventure! Inspired by the classic Flat Stanley project, this is a playful way to stay connected with our Beacon Tree community over the summer.
Each student will bring home a printed, full color All Star Buddy to take along on their summer adventures. Whether your family is heading to the beach, visiting grandparents, exploring a park, or just enjoying time in the backyard, we’d love to see where your child and their All-Star Buddy go! You're welcome to laminate the character, add a popsicle stick, or even get creative in other ways it’s totally up to you! We have included another copy of the character in this email in case.
As you make memories, please send your photos to Mrs. Lenz at jena.lenz@uticak12.org so they can be posted on Facebook.
We can’t wait to see all of the All Star Buddy adventures.
