Fourth Grade Performance
The fourth graders have been planning and working hard on their performance that will take place on Thursday, December 12th at 6:00. The day performance will happen the same day at 1:00. They have been practicing with Mrs. Bowron, Mrs. Haugo and Ms. Constance-Devich and their classmates for the last several weeks and it promises to be an awesome show.
TDAS
Talent Development and Accelerated Services is the new name for Gifted and Talented for the district. Each year the district gives all kindergartners and 2nd graders the COGAT Test, which is a national assessment to identify students who may be gifted/talented. Randolph Heights typically has a high number of students perform well on this test and we believe this year will be no different.
We also believe that all students are gifted in different ways and it is our job to meet those needs in the classroom. In years past, we have had a TDAS teacher on site, but instead of servicing only those students who qualify, we made sure all students had the class and access to the programming. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, the TDAS position was cut this year, but we are still intent on providing services for all students. All of the teachers at Randolph Heights have had the Gifted Education training through the district and we have made it a priority to continue to offer services to our students. Besides accelerated grade math for students in 3rd through 5th grade, we make sure to challenge students in the classroom with differentiated groups and accelerated work. I am confident that we have the highest number of trained teachers in the entire district when it comes to Gifted Education, and the most experienced.
The district will be releasing results of the COGAT shortly and if you have any questions about services for your child, please reach out to your child's teacher or myself.
Attendance (Important Reminder)
Attendance matters. Please make sure students are in school everyday, on time. Studies have shown that one of the biggest factors of student success in school is their daily attendance. Our goal this year is to have over 85% of our students with consistent attendance. Ideally, students would miss less than 10 days during an entire year. We know this helps with their academics, but it is also very important for their social emotional growth during these early times. Ensuring students are here every day and on time will have a great impact on their success for their entire educational career.
