Monday, Dec 12, 2022
The end of the calendar year always brings a flurry of activity and this year is no different! This week's Gator News is a little longer than usual! Thanks for taking the time to read!
Events: Re-takes, Concerts, 5/6 Social, and Opening Basketball Games are all in the mix this week! Next week, we will have a light-hearted Spirit Week meant to bring a little fun and joy as we get closer to our winter break.
- Monday, Dec 19: Sock and Slipper Day
- Tuesday, Dec 20: Hats and Headband Day
- Wednesday, Dec 21: Backwards or Inside Out Day
- Thursday, Dec 22: 'Ugly' or 'Tacky' Clothes Day
Safety Drill: Tomorrow, we will also be practicing a school-wide safety drill of "Clear the Halls and Hold". We practice safety drills each month to ensure that we know how to react in the event of an emergency. We make sure students are always notified ahead of time for safety drills (except fire drills) to help alleviate any stress these drills may cause. Likewise, after drills, students are able to have to process and seek support if they have big feelings that come up for them. They have all received training through a slide show on how and when we use a "clear the halls and hold" call which for most occasions are when we need to secure part of the building to ensure emergency personnel can come into the building to safely support an individual and eliminate an foot traffic that would impede a swift response. Please feel free to reach out any time you have questions about our safety drills or procedures.
Stay Warm and enjoy the snowflakes!

https://gofund.me/0b50664aMSMS_Sustain: Lost and Found Announcement
ALL ITEMS NOT CLAIMED BY FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16th will be donated the following week."
The week before Thanksgiving break, the Lost and Found committee organized a walk through of all our items. Students were able to review Lost and Found inventory and claim missing items. This event was held in preparation for our first donation to Amy's Armoire in Barre.
Amy's Armoire uses proceeds from the sale of clothing to help support and improve outcomes for Vermont's foster/adopted children and youth by connecting families to the resources they need. "In addition to providing a place to recycle clothing, we sell items at modest prices. Any funds remaining after operating expenses will be disbursed to support the stabilization of foster/adopted children in their current home, to help foster/adoptive parents have access to the supports they need to succeed."
Prior to our first donation, we are urging the Main Street Middle School community to review the Lost and Found website and to claim any missing items using this form.
MSMS-Sustain Store!
Our MSMS_Sustain Store is up and running and we have MSMS_Sustain Maple Syrup available for purchase. Students tapped dozens of trees in Hubbard Park and other local places. The sap was then boiled down in the MSMS schoolyard. This is the perfect gift for the holidays, since it is local, and student-made.
Currently, there are 6, 8 oz. bottles for sale at $15 each, and 11, 4oz. bottles for sale at $10 each.
