Welcome Back
Dear Parents,
It has been an awesome first week back at Great Lakes. We really did miss seeing our students on a daily basis, but it was also really nice to have some time at home with our families. This first week back we spent some extra time re-teaching our students what it means to be respectful, responsible and ready to learn in some of the more unstructured areas of school. These areas include the hallways, bathrooms, cafeteria, playground and school bus. Mrs. Woods and Ms. Roberts spent focused time in these areas encouraging kids to make sure their actions met our 3R expectations. I am happy to say it was a great week and the time spent re-teaching will surely payoff down the road.
As you may remember, next year Great Lakes will welcome Milo to our team. Milo is a purebred English Lab. He is a gift from last year's senior class as a way of showing their appreciation to West Ottawa, but also as a way to support younger students. We are getting super excited for Milo and boy is he growing. The last update from Milo's trainer is that he is up to 63 pounds and is doing amazing in his training. We hope to have Milo visit one or two more times this school year!
My best,
Mr. Stefanich
