Shrove Tuesday (Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras)

Mardi Gras, the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, marks the close of the Ordinary season. The French name Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday, from the custom of using all the fats in the home before Lent in preparation for fasting and abstinence.

Ash Wednesday

On Ash Wednesday, we embark on a journey through Lent. It is a time for self discovery as we remember how Jesus went into the desert for 40 days and was tempted by the devil. During our Lenten experience, we pray more, eat less, and give to the poor to prepare ourselves for what is at the heart of our Christian faith - Christ’s resurrection at Easter!

PD Day - School Closure

3 Way Conferences

On Tuesday, March 18th and Wednesday, March 19th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, teachers will be hosting 3-Way Conferences. This is an opportunity for the student, parents and teacher to engage in conversations around the strengths, areas of growth and next steps for the student.

We will have both in person and virtual opportunities in hopes this will provide more flexibility for families. The last hour on Tuesday will be virtual. The website to book the conferences will go live on Monday, March 3rd, 2025 at 10:00 am.

Please Note: Due to conferences Mrs. Greschner and Ms. Stankey’s students will NOT have classes on Thursday, March 20th.

Lenten Almsgiving - Birthday Bags

As part of our Lenten journey, our Grade 4 Faith Leadership Team will be collecting items to build birthday bags in collaboration with the Strathcona Food Bank. The food bank supports over 17,000 individuals with over 7,000 of them being children/teens. Each week the food bank distributes 8-10 Birthday Bags to families to help celebrate Birthdays from 2-16 years of age. Students and families are invited to send items listed below or a monetary donation to purchase needed items before Spring Break.

The following items are needed:

A paper birthday bag large enough to hold the following items;
paper cup cake holders
boxed cake mix
container of prepared Icing
bag of balloons
box of candles
paper plates
paper napkins

CHANGE OF CLOTHES

The snow is starting to melt!! Time to get out those rubber boots and splash pants.

Please remember to send a change of clothes in your child's backpack or leave them at school.

Donations for Areas of Need

Consider making a donation to support students who are need due to family financial strain. To make a donation please sign into your PowerSchool Account to support Students in Need or school items for students. By making a donation your support will be used to benefit students in need and areas of need within Holy Spirit as determined by school needs and the administration. If you donate $25 or more you are eligible to receive a tax receipt.

School Fees
