Reid Elementary News
June 2025
Hello Reid Families,
Please be sure to check your teacher’s emails and the PTO website for upcoming end of year events and news.
The last few weeks of school are here and we are still busy learning. It’s very important to arrive to school on time and stay for the entire day. We want to make sure we are assessing what students know and it’s difficult to complete assessments when students are not here. Also, please be sure students are well rested and have a healthy breakfast to get their day started in the best way possible.
The end of the year is also a great time to review school rules with your child. I know everyone is excited to be outside enjoying the longer days and warm weather. Sometimes students forget that our behavior expectations may look different at school than at home. Ask your child about what respectful behavior looks like in the classroom, in the lunchroom, or on the playground. It takes us all working together to help our students of today become the respectful adults of tomorrow.
When our last bell of the year rings on June 13th, the learning doesn’t have to stop there. Please continue to have your child read every day and practice their math facts over summer break. Keep a healthy routine going so that students know learning is still important outside of school. If you vacation this summer, look up the history of your destination, or write up a visitor’s brochure. You could conduct a science experiment or possibly take a trip to your local library. The possibilities are endless to make summer learning fun!
I’ve enjoyed working with all of you this school year. I wish everyone a warm, happy, and healthy summer!
Our first day of school is a half day on August 25th and our open house is August 20th. Please check your email for more information in August.
Educationally yours,
Jamie Wagner
Principal
Technology Message
Parents & Guardians: Please try to be aware of dangerous and/or destructive social media trends! These online “challenges” can turn into real-life actions with serious consequences. One recent trend intentionally damages student Chromebooks and can cause injury and possibly even start a fire. Aside from the obvious safety concerns, damaging school property can lead to disciplinary action up to and including expulsion from school, as per our GBCS Student Rights & Responsibilities Handbook (available on the district website). Please talk to your student about the consequences of these challenges that are usually not mentioned online.
