Welcome to the PreK December Newsletter!
Greetings, MAS PreK Families —
We’re thrilled to bring you the latest updates and news in this December 2024 edition of the MAS PreK Parent Monthly Newsletter.
First, a big thank you to all the families who participated in our Fall Festival activities. Your involvement meant the world to us! It’s always a joy to have families visit, get to see their children’s classrooms, and play an active role in their learning journey.
This month, we’re excited to invite families to spend more time in the PreK classroom! If you’d like to come in and read a story or engage in another fun activity with the kids, we’d love to have you. Please reach out to us via Class Dojo to arrange a visit — it’s a wonderful way to share the joy of learning with your child and their classmates.

PreK Attendance Update: Year-to-Date Results
As we continue our PreK journey together, we want to share an update on year-to-date attendance. Attendance plays a crucial role in your child’s academic success and helps lay the foundation for their future growth and development. Thank you for making your child’s education a priority!
Year-to-Date Attendance Results (as of November):
- Yale Campus PreK: 88.5%
- Old Coors Campus PreK: 94.7%
Our Attendance Goal: 95%
We’re making progress, but consistent attendance is the key to ensuring your child thrives both at home and school. To fulfill our role in shaping your child into an amazing student, we need your continued support in helping them attend school regularly.
Attendance Incentive:
To celebrate perfect attendance, students who achieve 100% attendance each week will earn a special dress-down day on the first day of school the next week! Let’s encourage our students to aim for this fun reward while building good habits.
A Few Important Attendance Reminders:
- Students with 10 or more unexcused absences over the school year will be withdrawn from the MAS PreK program.
- Three consecutive unexcused absences without communication will also result in withdrawal.
We understand that absences are sometimes unavoidable. If your child will be absent, please notify us in advance so we can support their learning and stay connected.
Together, let’s continue building a strong foundation for your child’s academic journey. Thank you for your partnership and dedication!
What’s Happening in PreK: Learning, Growing, and Choosing Love
After returning from Thanksgiving Break, our PreK classrooms have been buzzing with activity as students dive into new academic challenges and social-emotional learning opportunities. Adjusting back to the school routine can be tricky for young learners, and many students found it hard to say goodbye to their families after the break. That’s where the Choose Love program has truly shone as a guiding light in our classrooms.
One powerful tool from this program has been the introduction of the Gratitude Breath. This simple yet impactful practice helps students center themselves, calm their emotions, and get ready to focus on the day ahead. Whether they’re feeling nervous, missing their families, or simply needing a moment of peace, the Gratitude Breath empowers our PreK students to approach challenges with resilience and positivity. It’s incredible to see their growth as they learn to manage big emotions in little bodies.
On the academic front, our PreK students are working diligently to master foundational skills that will prepare them for future success. This month, we’re emphasizing number identification and early writing skills. Students are enthusiastically practicing recognizing and writing numbers 1 through 7. They're building their confidence and reinforcing these key concepts through engaging activities like number tracing, counting games, and creative projects.
We’re proud of how our PreK students are embracing both the Choose Love program and their academic milestones. With each Gratitude Breath and every number written, they’re taking important steps toward becoming capable, confident learners who are ready to tackle the world with curiosity and kindness.
Thank you for your continued support in helping your child succeed! Together, we’re fostering a love for learning and a heart full of gratitude.
