Bulldog Bark Family Update
September
Hello Bulldog Families!
School is in full swing and students and teachers are deep into learning. We are excited to see students engaged in critical thinking, problem solving, fluency and comprehension.
We are so happy to offer LEXIA to all students again this year. Lexia offers support on skills based on individual need. Students have the opportunity to move up levels and earn certificates for their effort and mastery of skills.
As a reminder - If you need to pick up your child in the afternoon, please do so before 2:45.
There is a lot of information in this update so please be sure to read all the way to the bottom.
Thank you for a great start to a Fantastic Year!

What's Happening in Specials
Music with Mrs. Zartman
In Music this September the 6th-8th grade bands will be participating in a brief review of skills learned in previous years, and will begin learning songs for their Christmas concert this December!
Kindergarten will be participating in a month of farm animal themed music games and songs to teach basic rhythms and melodies.
1st and 2nd Grades both love to play percussion instruments, and this month they will have plenty of opportunities to play instruments and learn how to read notated rhythms.
3rd Grade will be learning how to read notated melodies through music games.
4th Grade will be reviewing their music reading skills to prepare for starting our recorder unit in the middle of September! The students are SO excited to play the recorders!
5th Grade also love playing the percussion instruments, this September we will be learning more complex rhythms to play on the drums.
Art with Mrs. LaChance
In visual arts students are practicing expectations and procedures specific to ART. We have many different tools that are used and students are learning how to use and care for these items. During September, classes will be creating cultural draws about themselves. We are excited to celebrate our campus diversity and bring cultural awareness across the campus.
In the future, 4th grade will be making rainsticks. We will be using the cardboard portion of paper towel rolls. Please send in any you might have, I appreciate your support.
PE with Coach Tucker
Coming soon.
Technology with Ms. Lupercio
.In the month of September 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will become familiar with new technology terms for the month such as ethernet, cache, etc. 6th grade will progress in their typing club account online which helps them improve their typing skills. Our 7th/8th grade students will rate their typing speed which is beneficial toward students since homework is online with google classroom. There will be an overview of what is expected in the technology room. By the end of the month each student should be able to type 10-12 words per minute and continue to grow throughout the school year.
Library with Ms. Meza
The library is open and ready for readers. Students have received their Chromebooks for classroom use. We can't wait to see how many books get checked out this year! Happy Reading

A Message from our SRO
Good morning Bales Bulldog Parents and Community Members,
My name is Officer Jon Kinsel and it is my pleasure to have the opportunity to spend another
year here as the Bales Elementary School, School Resource Officer, (SRO). My role as your SRO
is to make sure you, your children and the school staff are safe during each school day.
With that being said, I wanted to pass on a message regarding school zones, speed and parking
issues. Please remember, the school zone is 15MPH during school business days and the
15MPH zone runs East to West on W Maricopa Road, in front of the school. There are 15MPH
school zone signs placed in that area as a reminder. Vehicles must also obey the school
crossing guards who are working at the crosswalk areas, in front of the school and on S Miller
Rd and W Maricopa Rd. In addition, there is no stopping or parking on W Maricopa Rd at any
time.
Regarding the school parking lot areas, please follow school rules when picking up your little
Bulldogs. It is very unsafe for them to be walking in between parked vehicles in the school
parking lot.
VIOLATIONS:
ARS 28-797.H (School zone speed in excess of 15MPH) $250 Fine but could be raised to a
DOUBLE FINE
ARS 28-797.I (Fail to stop when person in school crossing) DOUBLE FINE
ARS 28-871.A (Stopping, Standing, or Parking outside business or residential district). This
pertains to parking on W Maricopa Rd.
Please remember school speed zones and designated school cross walk areas are put in place
for the safety of our children and staff. As you all have seen, I am out and about ensuring the
safety of our little Bulldogs. I will begin to enforce these laws, as I am seeing more and more
violations.
Please be patient and follow these simple laws! Feel free to contact me, or Bales Elementary
School Administration with any questions.
Have a safe day!
