12 Week Progress Reports Available in Aeries

Middle School students get Progress Reports every 6 weeks. We have just completed the second reporting period and Progress Reports from the first 12 weeks are available for viewing in Aeries Parent Portal. If you have questions about your student's grades:

First ask them to show you their grades in Aeries. You'll be able to see missing assignments, test and quiz scores, etc.
If you still have questions, please review the syllabus you received from each teacher at the beginning of the year. Can't find it? Many classes will have it in Google Classroom. You can ask your child to show it to you. The syllabus for each class is your guide to grading policies, including if your student's teacher will accept late work, the range of time late work is accepted, and if they offer opportunities to retake tests.
If you still have questions, you and your student can email their teacher with questions.

We encourage you to make a family habit of checking Aeries Parent Portal once a week for any missing assignments so you can stay involved and help your scholar thrive!

Do you need help viewing the progress report? See the video below. It will require a sign in. If you do not have an email address, ask your student to use their school email login!

Letter about Safety

Staff/Parent/Guardian/Caregiver Communication

After successfully piloting a school safety and audio system at two of our schools (including Chavez Middle School) during the 23-24 school year, at the June 2024 Board of Education meeting, the Board approved installing this system at all OUSD schools.

This enhancement serves as an update to our current bell and intercom system. Each classroom teacher will have a device on a lanyard that amplifies sound throughout the

classroom during every lesson. Every student, no matter where they sit, will be able to clearly hear the teacher and information being taught.

Along with audio and video capabilities, the new device incorporates a safety notification button to alert administration and front offices of any emergency situation. In the event of a classroom emergency, the teacher can activate the camera for office staff to view the situation. The device identifies the exact location to initiate school safety protocols. Further, and only in the event of a lockdown or active shooter emergency, Oceanside Police Department can utilize these same cameras to access views into classrooms and throughout the school.
