After School Clubs
We offered a variety of clubs this fall for SMMS students. Currently, there are over 200 students participating in our after-school clubs. If you missed the enrollment deadline for your student, please look for spring club enrollment during the second semester.
Arrival Procedures
For the safety of our students, it is important that the following procedures be adhered to when dropping off and picking up students from school.
We have noticed and increasing number of students arriving prior to 7:15 a.m. Please be mindful that no student should arrive to school prior to 7:15 a.m. unless he or she rides an early bus and is escorted inside by a staff member.
If students continue to arrive early,
we will be contacting the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department.
Student Assistance Team
Due to the generosity of our local community, SMMS is happy to be able to provide assistance for Thanksgiving and Christmas! If you are in need of assistance, please fill out the following form by October 5, 2023. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. James- Margaret.james@k12.wv.us .
LSIC Meeting
We had our first LSIC meeting of the school year on September 20, 2023. The agenda can be found on our school website, along with names of our committee members.
We would love to have more involvement at our next meeting on November 15, 2023.
All About Safety
Newly Installed Safety Entrance
If you have visited our school, you've probably noticed our new safety vestibule. This safety measure was designed to increase staffulty and student safety. Our new entrance is scheduled to be fully completed by mid-October.
Chromebook Devices
Chromebooks were distributed to students. Students may not receive their device until they return the Student Contract and the Acceptable Use Policy. Please reach out to Ms. Brown at lkbrown@k12.wv.us with any questions.
Cell Phone Policy
Parents: Cell phones can be very distracting for students. Please help us in promoting total engagement in class by supporting our cell phone policy.
If cell phones or wireless headphones /earbuds are brought to school, the phones and wireless headphones/earbuds are required to be turned off and kept in the student lockers. Cell phones are not permitted to be used on school property to make phone calls, take pictures, check social media, or text during the school hours from 7:15 - 2:30. If the student must be contacted, parents may call our school at (304) 274- 5030. If student have their phones out, the following consequences will be given:
- 1st Offense- Lunch detention and phone in the office safe
- 2nd Offense- 1 hour after-school detention, phone in the safe
- 3rd Offense-2 hours after school detention, phone in the safe
