June Newsletter: 2025
We’ve officially arrived into this final month of our 2024/2025 school year. As such, this is our final newsletter of the year with June, summer, and back-to-school notes included. Before we look ahead, there is much to celebrate especially the many accomplishments of our STARs both in our classrooms and beyond. As noted below, our final day of this school year is Friday, June 20th. These final weeks will be bittersweet as we celebrate and wish our eighth graders the absolute best as they enter high school. May they know the unconditional dedication and care that they will always have at North as they launch into their high school years.
Our sixth and seventh graders will now grow forward, rising to the new expectations and heights. Their upcoming summer break is well deserved but we will miss them as they bring our North campus to life each/every day. Our summer break this year is a bit shorter as we welcome everyone back prior to Labor Day. Our opening for the upcoming 2025/2026 school year is on Wednesday, August 27th. This will be preceded by our Opening Orientation the prior week, on Friday, August 22nd from 2:30pm to 5:00pm. Please see the below calendar section for more dates/times associated with Back-to-School dates and events.
Lastly, North turns 100 this fall and we intend to open our second century of service to our North Everett community with a 100th Birthday event on Saturday, September 13th.
Please look for summer updates (emailed and posted) across the coming months as we prepare together to welcome our STARs back to campus in late summer. On behalf of our entire team at North Middle, thank you for this opportunity to serve your child and family across this 2024/2025 school year. We are grateful to be together as part of our North Everett community.
Enjoy these final few weeks of school, the related celebrations, and your upcoming summer. As always, goNorth!
With Gratitude,
Holly, Drew, & Tyler

Honoring Pride Month at North
June is Pride Month, and throughout the coming weeks, our school, district, and community will come together to recognize and celebrate this meaningful time. Pride is more than a celebration - it's a powerful reminder of the ongoing journey toward equality for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) community. It’s a time to stand in solidarity, foster inclusion, and reaffirm our commitment to creating a school environment where every student, family, and staff member feels safe, valued, and supported.
Pride Month offers a special opportunity to reflect on the history, resilience, and achievements of the LGBTQ+ community. As a school and district dedicated to inclusion, community, and excellence, we believe in nurturing learning spaces where everyone is welcomed, respected, and empowered to thrive. Though June is just one month, it serves as an important moment to learn, grow, and celebrate together.
We invite you to join us in honoring and celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride Month throughout June!
New Opportunity: Summer iReady & Chromebook Access
This summer, North is piloting a new summer learning opportunity designed to keep learned skills sharp across the coming break. Every student will have continued access to our iReady Reading and Math program. This is avaliable online and can be access from home computers/tablets (see below) or through a student Chromebook.
Like the above summer reading program, participating students who complete a minimum of 900 minutes (15 hours), will be celebrated with a school-time BBQ/party. They will also be eligible for drawings to include additional rewards. A minimum of 15 hours may sound like a lot of time but it’s equivalent to 0.7% of their total summer and well worth the commitment, given the learning loss challenges that others will need to overcome when they return to school. Plus, we’ll make it well worth their time in recognizing their hours of dedication.
To participate, we are simply asking students to dedicate 30 minutes a day, five days a week (the other twenty-three and a half hours are open to continued summer fun). All-in, these 150 minutes each week will make a significant difference in reducing summer learning loss. Students already know how to access and use iReady as we have been utilizing this program weekly for the past two months.
Need a Chromebook? If you would like to checkout a Chromebook over the summer months for iReady use/access, please complete our SUMMER CHECKOUT FORM. Once complete, your child will be provided a Chromebook at out upcoming device check-in (final week of school).
How to Access iReady from a home/personal computer: To access iReady using a home/personal computer, simply follow the below directions.
- Access our main North webpage and access the "Student" menu (top menu options)
- Click on "Student Tools" which will bring up a number of clickable program/icons.
- Click on "i-Ready" to access the program and login with the same credentials that they used with their Chromebook (student number + password).
- If you have any questions or challenges with this login process, please reach out as we are happy to help.
Post SBA Party on Thursday
To celebrate the efforts of our STARs, we are hosting a Post SBA Party (aka Spring Dance) for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders on the afternoon of this coming Thursday, June 5th. This opportunity will be free to all students who earned their ticket by 1) giving their best and 2) remaining respectful of others across on our recent state exams.
The party begins immediately after school, running from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Along with music via a DJ, students will be able to eat, engage in games, and enjoy other activities across this time. Please review the below notes for additional details.
Theme: This year’s theme is Slumber Party with students invited to wear their PJs as party of their attire. Purposefully, this is not a dress-up event as it occurs immediately after school. The entire party is themed accordingly including games, activities, and more.
Tickets & Attendance:
- Nearly all of our STARs have earned their free ticket to the party. Should a student need to purchase a ticket, these will be on sale this week, Tuesday through Thursday at lunch - $10.00 per ticket.
- The dance begins shortly after school. As such, students will be required to leave their backpacks/belongings in the Commons where members of our North team will ensure the security of those items.
- Attending students may be picked-up or, if they typically ride a bus home, we will run post party busses to normal, designated stops (see below section).
- Students will be provided a bracelet as part of their attendance. This will be removed once a student leaves the party.
- Students may not leave the party/dance and return. Once a student/student leaves the dance, they will not be permitted to return.
- Guests will not be permitted as this is a North-only event.
Food: Food items will be on sale at the event with prices staring at $1. Items will include typical snacks including chips, cookies, etc. All proceeds will directly support our Technology Student Association and their upcoming trip to Nationals in Nashville.
Pick-Up and Post-Dance Transportation:
- Student Pick-Up: Our party ends at 5:00pm. If you plan on picking up your child, please do so on the east side of our North campus, along Rainier Avenue.
- Bus Transportation: Students who typically ride a bus to/from school will have access to bus transportation as the party concludes. While these buses will report to all of our normal PM stops, please note that these routes are likely to take awhile to complete. If you are seeking the most expedient way for your child to return home after the party, please consider the above student pick-up option.
Eighth Grade, Celebration of Learning, June 18th
On the evening of Wednesday, June 18th, we will have the opportunity to celebrate our eighth graders as they move up to become high schoolers next fall. To celebrate their journey, students and their families will come together on June 18th for a two part evening. First, we will host a ceremony for families at 5:00pm. This will wrap around 6:00pm and after time with families, pictures, etc., our eighth graders will transition to their dance/party, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Please note details for each below.
Ceremony (5:00pm to 6:00pm):
- Students need to arrive by 4:45pm and will check-in/gather in the Commons.
- Families will proceed to the main gym via the north gate/entrance near our turf field. (Doors open at 4:30pm for seating)
- We will seat as many as we can in our gym bleachers and floor seating.
- To ensure room for families, students will be seated in the Commons for the start of the ceremony. They will view opening speeches via video before proceeding to the gym for their names/recognition.
- Professional pictures will be taken of each student as they cross the stage. These images are complimentary and will be available for student pick-up on Thursday.
- After the ceremony, students will meet their families outside as we turnaround the gym for the party.
8th Grade Party (6:00pm to 8:00pm):
- The party portion of our Celebration of Learning event is for students only, staffed by chaperones and North team members. Guests, including sixth and seventh grade students, are not invited (sorry).
- Our 8th Grade Party will include a DJ/dancing, games, activities, and food. All items are complimentary as no additional items/food will be avaliable for purchase.
- If students leave the party/event, they will not be readmitted.
- Please make plans for how your child will be picked up at 8:00pm.
Yearend Library Reminders:
As we approach the end of the school year, our library is getting ready to wrap things up and we need your help. Over these next three weeks, students/families will receive automatic weekly emails from our Library System. These messages will list the books your student currently has checked out, along with cover images to help you and your student locate any missing items. This is a great time to check bookshelves, backpacks, and even under beds.
Important Check-In Dates: All library books are due back by this Friday, June 6th. The last day to turn in books before a fine is assigned is next Friday, June 13th.
Lost a Book? Here Are Your Options:
- How to replace the book: You may purchase the same title and send it in with a note that includes your student’s name, student number, and teacher’s name.
- How to pay a fine: To pay a fine, please use the DISTRICT PAYMENT PORTAL and log in with your student’s district credentials to pay the replacement fee. Please pay all fines by June 13th.
Need Help with Fines? If your family is unable to pay for lost books, you can submit a FINE WAIVER APPLICATION to our school office. Please turn in all waiver forms by Friday, June 13th.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a well-stocked and accessible library for all students. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out.

Summer Meals Begin June 30th
With summer comes the beginning of our district’s SUMMER MEALS PROGRAM across our North community and Everett. To offer these important services, Everett partners with the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) to provide free healthy meals to children and teens across the summer months. For more than 35 years, Everett Public Schools (EPS) Food & Nutrition Professionals has been serving summer meals to all children, up to 18 years old. This year EPS will be partnering with a variety of new community organizations to offer free meals from June 30th to August 14th.
