We had a wonderful time welcoming our students and parents during Meet Your Teacher & Open House this morning! Hopefully you and your student (s) felt the love, passion, and positive culture we have here at Coleman Middle School.

WELCOME DR. TOOKES!

Please join me in welcoming our new 6th Grade Assistant Principal, Dr. Tookes. Dr. Tookes brings many years of experience as an educator in upper elementary school, instructional leadership in literacy and humanities, and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Welcome to Coleman Dr. Tookes!

FIRST DAY(S) OF SCHOOL:

SCHOOL HOURS AND ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL:

School hours are 9:15 AM to 4:00 PM
Please review Coleman MS procedures for arrival and dismissal on this LINK (With a video included for car riders).
Students will report to the cafeteria upon arrival if they will have breakfast, otherwise, they will go to homeroom

INFORMATION FOR 7TH & 8TH GRADE DIGITAL DAY (8/3/20220)

Classes will be asynchronous
Full schedule will be posted for students on the student portal on Tuesday, 8/2/2022
Log in to each of your teacher's eClass and access their Google Classroom there
If you do not have a device, be sure you stop by next week to pick up one (See information about devices below)

ONE TO ONE DEVICE INFORMATION:

Starting this year, all students in GCPS will have a device that they can take home. Students at Coleman have have always had a device assigned to them, but this year they will start taking them home instead of keeping it at school. Our teachers and students are very savvy with technology. 6th Grade students will receive orientation during the first weeks of schools!

6th grade students will receive their device on their first day of school: August 3rd.

7th and 8th grade students will receive their devices ON their first day of school: August 4th

If your 7th or 8th grade student does not have a device to complete their digital work on August 3rd, you can bring them to the school to pick up their devices any of the following dates & times:

Monday 1-6 pm

Tuesday 8-12 pm

STUDENT PORTAL PASSWORD RESET

To access the student portal, your student will be required to type their numeric birthday in the password field using two digits for their birth month, two digits for their birthday, and four digits for their birth year. For example, if your student’s birth occurred on June 9, 2015, their reset password would be 06092015.

Please visit My Payment Plus (MPP) to access forms that need to be signed and pay for contributions!

FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH:

Starting this year, we all return to the regular procedures and payments for lunch at schools.

There is still time to complete your Summer 2022 Reading Challenge! Log the minutes you read in Beanstalk to earn prizes, including a ticket to the first Coleman Walk & Talk event of the 2022- 23 school year. The Summer Reading Challenge runs from May 15th – August 10th .

GCPS INVITATION

Gwinnett County Public Schools is inviting parents and guardians, community members, and school district employees to apply for the GEMS Oversight Committee, a group of community and school system representatives charged with the annual review of the Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum standards. The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Nov. 1, 2022. After the review, the committee recommends revisions and additions to the Superintendent for adoption by the Gwinnett County Board of Education. Committee members serve three-year terms. Those interested in serving should complete the online application no later than Aug. 12.
