The Owl Post
September 16, 2024
Hello Vernon Families and Friends,
We kicked off our IB assemblies this year with fantastic presentations in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. From September 15 to October 15, we honor the rich history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. It’s a great time to recognize the advocacy, art, and traditions that have shaped the U.S. and beyond.
On Thursday, September 19, we invite you to our first PTA meeting of the year and a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month! Join us in the MPR from 5:45 – 7:00 PM for an evening of delicious food, music, and fun activities, like Lotería and piñata-making, as we celebrate the many vibrant cultures that make up our community.
We’ll also have some time for official PTA business, but this event is all about community connection and fun. We need volunteers to help make this celebration a success, so please consider signing up to lend a hand.
Let’s come together to celebrate and make this year special!

Vernon PE Welcome Note
Hello Vernon K-8 Physical Education Family! We are “Coach Joe” and “Ms. Paula” your Vernon PE teachers.
We're super excited to get this year rolling- and running and jumping and playing! The goal of the PE program is to expose students to a wide range of activities to build toward a lifetime of physical fitness. Please support your students' success in PE by encouraging them to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for being active on days that they have PE. We strive to create an inclusive and engaging PE experience for all students and this works when everyone participates. Participation in PE means moving and being active for the whole class period, cooperating with teachers and peers, trying new things, building skills, and staying safe while having fun.
We like to communicate with families to support our wonderful students, please reach out as needed via email: papolitte@pps.net, porzali@pps.net, or phone 503-916-6415 ext. 77706. A detailed syllabus for PE will be available at Back to School Night on Sept. 11 or by request via email or print.
Actively yours,
Ms. Paula (Politte) and Coach Joe (Orzali)
