As we approach the holiday season, I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your continued dedication and hard work this semester. Whether in small group sessions or through virtual lessons, your commitment to learning has been truly inspiring.
To our students, please remember that finishing this semester strong is key to your success. Attend all live lessons, actively participate, and ensure that you meet all coursework expectations. These final weeks are an important time to solidify your understanding and demonstrate your growth.
To our parents, thank you for your unwavering support and encouragement. Your involvement plays a crucial role in helping your students stay motivated and succeed.

🌟 December Students of the Month 🌟
Ryan Caputo
We are thrilled to recognize Ryan Caputo as one of Odyssey Online Learning's Students of the Month! Ryan exemplifies what it means to be a dedicated and engaged learner, consistently demonstrating both enthusiasm and a strong commitment to his education.
Ryan’s teachers praise him for being a hard worker who is always actively engaged in class. Whether he’s interacting with his peers during discussions or diving into the course content, Ryan’s enthusiasm and positive energy bring a vibrant spirit to our school community. His school pride and willingness to participate make him a standout student.
When asked about his favorite part of Odyssey Online Learning, Ryan shared, “I can do my classes from home and have the rest of the day to do whatever I like!” This flexibility allows Ryan to balance his academic responsibilities with his personal interests, showcasing his ability to manage his time effectively.
Outside of his studies, Ryan is a passionate video game lover and a big fan of horror movies. His hobbies highlight his creativity and his love for storytelling and adventure in all its forms.

Olivia Cone
We are honored to recognize Olivia "Liv" Cone as one of Odyssey Online Learning's Students of the Month! Livi has set a remarkable standard for academic excellence and engagement this quarter. She excels in all her classes, demonstrating incredible responsibility and a positive attitude that hasn’t gone unnoticed by her teachers.
One of Liv’s standout qualities is her dependability. She consistently completes her assignments ahead of schedule, actively participates in Live Lessons, and maintains excellent communication with her teachers. Live is not only a diligent student but also a supportive classmate, frequently praising and celebrating the achievements of others in her classes.
When asked about her experience at Odyssey Online Learning, Liv shared, “My favorite thing about Odyssey Online Learning is all of the lovely teachers I have gotten to meet. Teachers are the soul of a school, and to have fun, kind, patient, and supportive teachers is very important!”
Outside of her academics, Liv enjoys creative hobbies like beading bracelets, painting, softball and spending quality time with her little sister.

Olya Carroll
We are delighted to recognize Olya Carroll as one of Odyssey Online Learning's Students of the Month! Olya exemplifies the values of hard work, curiosity, and dedication, making her an outstanding member of our school community.
Olya’s teachers describe her as one of the hardest-working students they’ve ever encountered. Despite her busy schedule conflicting with Live Lesson times, she takes the initiative to watch every lesson recording, diligently taking notes and following up with questions. When she needs help, Olya doesn’t hesitate to reach out, often scheduling Zoom meetings with her teacher to ensure she fully understands the material. Her commitment to staying on top of her assignments and her genuine desire to learn are truly inspiring.
When asked about her favorite part of Odyssey Online Learning, Olya shared, “I love being able to get help when I need it and having really awesome teachers!”
Outside of her academic achievements, Olya has a wide range of hobbies that reflect her creativity and adventurous spirit. She enjoys artistic skating, creating art, birdwatching, and playing soccer. These interests showcase her vibrant personality and passion for exploring the world around her.

Emma Sternett
We are excited to recognize Emma Sternett as one of Odyssey Online Learning's Students of the Month! Emma is a shining example of what it means to be a dedicated, engaged, and enthusiastic learner.
Emma’s teachers praise her for being an all-around awesome student. She actively participates in class, bringing a fun and entertaining energy to Live Lessons that brightens everyone’s day. Emma consistently completes her assignments on time and demonstrates a high level of effort and quality in all her work. Her positive attitude and strong work ethic make her a pleasure to teach and get to know.
When asked about her favorite part of Odyssey Online Learning, Emma shared, “My favorite thing about Odyssey Online Learning is the flexibility. I’m able to do my schoolwork at my own pace and wherever I am.”
In her free time, Emma enjoys collecting and playing Pokémon, showcasing her passion for creativity and adventure.

Clemson Lab Field Trip
Join us at Clemson University Friday, December 13th, 2024, at 11:00 am for the Genetic Disease
Investigator Lab– A Case Study for Sickle Cell!
In this lab, students will:
• Discuss DNA, genetic disease, homozygous and heterozygous alleles, Punnett squares, PCR, restriction enzymes, electrophoresis
• Set up a PCR reaction using forward and reverse primers and master mix
• Use a thermocycler to isolate and make copies of the gene of interest
• “Digest” PCR product using restriction enzymes
• Load “digested” DNA on an electrophoresis gel
• Analyze gels for homozygous recessive, homozygous dominant, and heterozygous alleles.
• Operate micropipettes, vortex, and micro centrifuge
