May 20, 2025
Not To Be Missed!
MetUp Olympics, Friday, May 23
This Friday will be our fun-filled annual celebration of our entire school community! Each advisory participates in mini-competitions, from limbo to basketball free throws to even more creative contests such as the famous hobby horse relay or the "Box of Lies." This year it will take place at the Tecolote Canyon Rec Center; all students must take the school bus - no exceptions. Your student has a permission form for you to sign.
Memorial Day Holiday
On Monday, May 26, we will be celebrating Memorial Day. No school!
Exhibition Schedule May 27-June 5
All 9th, 10th and 11th grade students will be presenting their Exhibitions beginning Tuesday, May 27 and continuing for two weeks through Thursday, June 5. School will be dismissed at 12:10 on Monday/Wednesday/Friday to begin exhibitions at 12:45. Lunch is available from 12:10 to 12:45.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, exhibitions will run from 8:30-3:30 for students who are either presenters or panelists. The last day of regular classes will be Wednesday, June 4, with graduation on June 6.
Food Services for June 2-6
Because of the summer break, NO Mesa College food services will be available the week of June 2-6. San Diego Unified food services will be providing a small number of cold meals (breakfast and lunch) on those days. Students may also prepare by bringing their own food. June 2 and 4 are short days for Exhibitions (dismissal @ 12:10pm). June 6 is the Met Graduation!

College and Career
California Colleges Guidance Initiative (CCGI)
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of our ongoing efforts to support your student in preparing for life after high school, we’re excited to share that we are implementing the California Colleges Guidance Initiative (CCGI). This platform is designed to simplify the college and financial aid application process for students and provide schools with valuable tools to better support them.
What You Need to Know:
Starting next school year (2025–2026), all seniors will use CaliforniaColleges.edu to complete their UC, CSU, and California Community College applications, as well as their financial aid applications (FAFSA or CADAA).
- We will share more information with both students and families when we have it, and we look forward to full implementation in August 2025.
Thank you for being a vital part of your student’s journey toward college and career success!
Community Connections
Please spread the good word about the Met!
Parents, please take a moment to write a positive review of the Met at one or all of these platforms that parents commonly use when choosing a school:
- Yelp - https://www.yelp.com/biz/san-diego-met-high-school-san-diego
Niche - https://www.niche.com/k12/san-diego-metro-career-and-tech-san-diego-ca/
Great Schools - https://www.greatschools.org/california/san-diego/14544-San-Diego-Metro-Career-And-Tech-School/
Many students and parents over the years have told us how their experiences at the Met have inspired them to future success. We hope you'll share your stories with a wider audience so that more families can have a school experience like yours. Thank you so much for supporting our school!

UPDATED ATTENDANCE PROCEDURE
Attendance is very important for your student's success. If your student will be absent or tardy, we ask that you send an email to sdmet@sandi.net to excuse it. Encourage your student to reach out to their teachers directly to ensure continuity of learning.
