What a memorable way to kick off the school year! The 23rd Annual Community Tailgate Party was buzzing with excitement and overflowing with Tiger Pride!
A huge thank you to our incredible Tiger community for making this event a success. We extend special gratitude to Musco Lighting for sponsoring the evening, and to Pepsi and Country Mart for their generous drink donations. We also appreciate all the businesses that participated with fantastic giveaways!

We are thrilled to announce that Hope Hunter, librarian at Lucy Wortham James Elementary in the St. James R-I School District, was selected as a semi-finalist for the 2025 Missouri Teacher of the Year award! This recognition highlights Hope's exceptional dedication to her students and her commitment to advancing literacy and the science of reading within our school community.
As a passionate advocate for literacy, Hope has made it her mission to empower students through evidence-based reading strategies that foster a lifelong love of learning. Her innovative approach to the science of reading not only enhances student success but also supports our district's broader educational goals.
Hope's selection as one of the 16 Regional Teachers of the Year from across Missouri is a testament to her positive impact on our students, staff, and the broader St. James community. We couldn't be more proud of her achievements and the inspiration she provides to everyone around her.
Kindergarten students in Mrs. Witt's class engaged in a creative lesson to explore the importance of understanding and meeting each other's unique needs. During the activity, each student was given an "injury" and a bandage—but only one bandage was applied correctly. This hands-on experience highlighted that one-size-fits-all solutions aren’t effective and showed how personalized support can make a difference. By fostering caring relationships, we continue to empower our students to succeed academically and thrive within our Tiger community. Together, we’re making GREAT things happen at St. James R-1 School District!
Mrs. Mulhall's classes have been buzzing with community-building activities lately! From constructing paper towers to navigating blindfold hunts and designing paper bridges, students are engaging in fun and creative ways to build teamwork and collaboration skills. These hands-on activities are not only fostering strong connections but also developing essential skills that will benefit our students throughout the year.
The National Honor Society (NHS) at St. James R-1 High School kicked off its annual recycling initiative today! Each week, NHS members collect recyclables from every classroom and building area, sort them, and ensure they are properly recycled. This effort not only helps keep our school clean but also empowers our students to be responsible stewards of the world. Together, we’re making a difference, one recycled item at a time!
Let’s continue to inspire our Tigers to lead with care and positively impact the world around us!
Our Red Regiment Band took center stage at the Cardinals game on August 16th, performing God Bless America in front of thousands. Their hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence were on full display as they lived the Tiger Way. We are so proud of these talented students for representing our district with such honor and pride!
Peachjar Digital Flyers!
St. James R-1 School District uses Peachjar to digitally send home school and community flyers. All parents with an email address on file will automatically be registered to receive digital flyers from their school.
