Principal's Message
Dear MMK Families,
I'm happy to share another excellent week of news and updates from our school! First, huge congratulations to Bella Buck, Lexi Stamper, and Ty Newman for being selected as finalists in the Forest Festival Button Contest - what an honor with over 600 entries across the county. Make sure to check out their creative button designs.
We also celebrated our elementary students' outstanding effort and growth at January's end-of-month awards assembly. It's wonderful to be able to formally recognize students for their progress in areas like reading, math, attendance and citizenship. Keep up the hard work, Owls!
For families with rising preschoolers, don't miss the March 18 parent information night from 5:30-6:30PM to explore our preschool program. We hope you and your future Owl can join us!
With spring sports right around the corner, please ensure all required paperwork is submitted to the office by the season start dates. Check out the newsletter for the full details.
Finally, huge kudos to our ASB students for coordinating a meaningful Wounded Warrior fundraiser. Through their efforts they made a caring contribution that embodies our school's spirit of leadership and community.
As always, please reach out with any questions! I wish all of our hardworking Owls an excellent rest of February.
Mr. Stoney

We take time to recognize and congratulate the hard work and growth that our OWLS make each and every month. Go OWLS!
Preschool Parent Meeting
Will your child turn 4 years old by August 31, 2024? Parent/Preschool meeting on March 18th from 5:30-6:30 pm in The Lohman Zone (preschool room).
Guidelines: Please bring only the child who will be attending preschool at MMK in the Fall of 2024. Students-to-be will participate in classroom learning activities, so pants and sneakers help them to be prepared for activities.

--- Character Strong ---
February - Honesty
Grades K-6 are beginning their new character trait for Character Strong this week, Honesty. This month’s focus is Honesty. One way to think about Honesty is “being truthful in what you say and do.” Practicing Honesty helps strengthen our relationships and even reduces stress. Honesty is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Well. Across grade levels, students will be developing skills like emotion regulation, positive self-talk, and stress-management.
You can find out more about Honesty with your child's grade level newsletter bellow.
----Above the Line----
Weekly above the line students
This year, Mary M. Knight is introducing a new recognition system that aligns with our theme for the year: "above the line." This philosophy emphasizes the importance of being intentional, thoughtful, and purposeful in our actions and decisions. Even when faced with challenging situations, we strive to make the best choices by taking a moment to reflect and consider our options. Our staff was recently asked to nominate a student who embodies the "above the line" mentality.
This week's above-the-line OWLS are:
Elementary: Emma Holmes, Emmett Cruz-Vizena, Allie Finch, James Reed, Stathen Rich, James Horn, Sebastian Buck, Tristan Persell, Koal Reed, Dalton Hansen, Tristen Ushman, Aree Finch.
Secondary: Zoie Richards, Bleyden Jenkins, Jude Severson, Misty Baughman, Alex Tindall
