This Week at Windsor...
#WEAREWINDSOR
April 19th, 2024
Windsor Families,
Windsor's BeYOUnique spirit week starts next week! See below for the daily fun! Thank you to all who were able to attend Open House.
Today, we help and our third and final fire drill for the school year. Our Wildcats moved quickly and quietly out of the school. Great job!
Parent Input:
If you would like to share classroom considerations with us for your child, kindly complete and return this form by Friday, May 3rd. Forms that request or exclude specific staff members
will be discarded. Please note the completion of this form is optional.
https://forms.gle/pJtFSpaxCHm796jVA
Just a reminder, supervision does not begin outside until 8:50am every morning. Students who are dropped off prior to 8:50am will be unsupervised.
Recognize a staff member:
New edition to our newsletter! At the very bottom of the newsletter you will see a new section called, Recognize a Windsor Staff Member. If you have a staff member that you would like to recognize for their outstanding work, please be sure to click on the link and fill out the form!
Smart watches:
We have several students who wear smart watches or watches that allow them to text/call parents. These items are not allowed to be used during the school day. We treat these devices as cell phones and will ask students to turn them off and put them in their backpacks if they are a distraction. If you need to get in touch with your child please call our office, we are happy to get a message to them about changes in transportation at the end of the day.
For more information on Cell Phones/Wearables please click HERE.
Windsor Drive drop and go: Please pull up as far as possible on Windsor Drive. The corner of Windsor and Miner gets incredibly congested when cars do not pull up all of the way. This creates a dangerous situation.
Have a wonderful wildcat weekend,
Mrs. Anastacio and Mrs. Soprano

The advanced placement process will occur in May after the school year's testing windows have closed. Percentiles on the most recent CogAT and the highest of three MAP scores will be converted to a standard score (or z-score) before averaging, which provides a standardized way to compare data. The district will also calculate local percentiles for both assessments at this time. Families will receive placement information in mid-May. Only families of students who are new qualifiers to Advanced Math (grades 4-7) and Advanced Language Arts (grades 6-8) will receive letters. If a student is enrolled in an advanced course this school year, they will automatically be enrolled for next year. Please review the FAQ document for answers to more specific questions regarding the placement process. If you still have questions after reviewing, please contact Katie Paulson at kpaulson@sd25.org.

Who says Physics has to be scary? Physics is the branch of science that studies flying, launching, moving, and floating. It also studies magnets, motors and electrical circuits. Did I mention that heat, light, and sound are also physics topics? Physics is fun! Check out this article from Babble Dabble Do that has 80 experiments that you can do at home that relate to Physics. Food & Nutrition Services|Seasonal Menus
The Food & Nutrition Services Department is continually working to provide our students with lunch menu items that they enjoy, while providing a variety of nutritious options for our students. To achieve this, the department will be having seasonal menus this school year. All elementary and middle schools will have a Fall (8/17-11/17), Winter (11/27-2/14), Spring (2/20-5/31) Menu. Many of our favorite menu items will stay on the menu, however, this allows us to add some new products to our menus!
Our elementary and middle school students taste-tested a variety of new menu items this fall, and we have selected several of those items to be placed on the winter menu. We had quite a few items our students enjoyed, so some of the student-approved items will also be placed on the spring menu.
Updated menus will be posted on our website as well as on our app. Nutritional information can also be found on our website. We look forward to continuing to serve our students delicious and healthy lunch options.
Notes from the Nurse:
Dental Exams:
The time off from school during the holidays can be a good time for you to schedule your child's required dental exam. Students in kindergarten and 2nd grade are required to turn in a dental exam by May 15, 2024.
Please refer to this LINK for Illinois Department of Public Health informational materials regarding influenza, meningococcal disease and vaccinations.
Absences/Tardies:
Please also make every effort for your child to arrive at school on time. Missing the beginning of the school day often has a negative impact on students for the rest of the day. Please contact the office if your child will be tardy or needs to leave early!
Student Health: If your child has tested positive for COVID-19, you can notify the school nurse for guidance regarding how many days it is recommended to stay home (5 days with day 0 as onset of symptoms or test day if asymptomatic) per Illinois Department of Public Health.
ARAB-AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH
In April 2022, President Biden officially recognized the month of April as National Arab American Heritage Month with a special commemorative letter. The month celebrates the Arab American heritage and culture and pays tribute to the contributions of Arab Americans and Arabic-speaking Americans.

PASSOVER
Passover, also called Pesach, is a major Jewish holiday that celebrates freedom and justice. Passover is celebrated with two traditional meals called seders, on the first two nights of the holiday. Seder translates to "order" in Hebrew, because there is a ritual order of the prayers read and the foods eaten.
