CVU Celebrations
October 18, 2024
Dear CVU Community,
Three times a year, we invite our students to participate in the Engage Survey, which focuses on four key areas of their experience: identity, connection, direction, and proficiency. This survey serves two key purposes:
Supporting students: It helps advisors better understand their advisees and identify those who may need additional support.
Improving our practices: It provides insight into how students perceive our systems and structures, offering us a mirror to see if they feel connected, engaged, and involved in their learning and in our community.
The infographic included here highlights student responses to several of the survey questions. Currently, our leadership team, faculty, staff, and student groups are reviewing the results and proposing ways to strengthen what we do and how we do it.
While there is much to celebrate in these results, the survey also shows areas where we can continue to grow. We invite your feedback—after reviewing the infographic, please feel free to share suggestions or reach out if you would like more information. Thank you for your support as we work together to foster a thriving, engaged community for all our students.
Student Council Corner
Happy Friday, Hawks! This is Ariel. This week, Student Council continued its work on two upcoming events: the Crystal Skull Competition and the Turkey Trot. Crystal Skull is CVU’s annual costume competition, and students can compete individually, in advisories, or in groups. CVU’s entire student body will come together to cheer for the different participants, and winners will be announced in varying categories. This will be a great opportunity to come together as a school community and show our Halloween spirit! Additionally, the Turkey Trot 5K is coming up on Saturday, November 23rd. The course will begin right here at CVU and wind its way through Hinesburg. The Turkey Trot is open to students, teachers, and community members, so don’t forget to sign up! The link can be found here: HInesburg Rec Department
As Quarter 1 wraps up, we’d like to thank everyone for making our work so successful throughout the beginning of this year. The Club Fair, held last Monday, was a great success! So many wonderful clubs came with posters and candy and it was a great way to see all the different opportunities offered at CVU. Student Council has a lot of fun ideas for the next few months, so keep your eyes peeled for what’s coming next. Have a great weekend CVU!

From Jennifer Marriott: This week, the OLTA class took a field trip to Smuggler's Notch Disc Golf Course to play 18 holes at this world renowned course! From Karen Kirkland: Our AP Stats class is very proud to have 100% homework completion today, particularly on back to back White days. Boys varsity soccer members apologized for bumpy notes because they did their work on the bus, returning from the game at SB. I think everyone’s work was swell! (Detailed, careful, correct)
From Lianna Reed: French IV students attended a student performance in the Flynn Space Friday October 18. Aba Diop is a Senegalese master sabar percussionist and griot lineage holder. The band has a rotating all-star membership to accommodate various configurations but no matter the constellation, the live performances are electrifying and wholly unique: never before has “sabar” like this been offered to a world stage. Students participated in Wolof (local language in Senegal) call and response and were treated to a wonderful francophone experience!
