Prayer
A Prayer for the Second Week of Advent – a Prayer for Peace
Heavenly Father, Lord of All, come and fill this world with your peace. May there be an end to hatred and division among your people. Cease all the fighting and war in this world. Heal the bitterness and hurt in my own heart. In this season of Advent, prepare my heart for the coming of Jesus, our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Fill my heart with your peace which passes all understanding. For of the greatness of his government and peace, there shall be no end. Amen.
Amen.
A Note from Mrs. Longden
This week we lit the candle of peace on our Advent wreath. We call Him the Prince of Peace. The prophet, Isaiah, predicted the coming of a Messiah who would come to forgive our sins of the world. Through this peace, people would be drawn to a new kingdom setting aside their sinful ways.
“For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).
Keep things in your life simple. Bring peace to life around you and all you meet this Advent season. Let’s all find peace and stillness of our lives during the next few weeks. Here are some ideas: take a walk on a crispy snowy night, light a candle, go to adoration or to confession, find a new prayer or a new place to pray, attend Mass or a prayer service, turn on soothing music, spend time alone with a warm beverage, just sit and watch your children play.
Peace and glad tidings of joy for the Savior’s birth.
Happy Advent!
Blessings,
Mrs. Longden
THEME
John the Baptist proclaims a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
Prepare! Make straight his path! Can I recognize the Lord on my own today?
Can I recognize his movements, his call, his will in my mundane routines?
Do my mistakes remind me of my humanness, My status of being not-God?
Can I forgive as God forgives me?
Heavenly Father,
Soften my heart to hear
and be receptive to the voice
crying out in the wilderness.
Amen.
Great to be Grateful

Accreditation Review
On December 13th John Soper from the Archdiocese came out to go over our Accreditation visit from October. He went over what the visiting team had to say regarding Holy Trinity School. Overall, he was very impressed with our school and had a lot of positive things to say. Like with every accreditation, we have areas to work on as well. We will look at the recommendations given by the visiting team, as well as our own critiques from the process, and create goals to work on. We were given a lot of commendations. The visiting team was very impressed with our mission statement and the way we live out our mission statement on a daily basis. They really like our virtues program and the way we implement that into our daily schedules. There were many other commendations given and more information will be shared throughout the year. Thank you for all your help in creating the environment we have at Holy Trinity and allowing your children to be a part of this school.
ITBS Testing
Iowa Test of Basic Skills will be from March 4th-18th for students in 2nd-8th grade. This is a shorter time frame than in previous years. Please make all efforts to not schedule vacations during this time. More information will be coming.
