Reid Elementary News
October 2024
Hi Reid Rocket Families!
Our Fund Run is coming up and we hope it's a huge success! Thank you for all of your help and support. Students are asked to raise $50. or more to earn a glow party if we have a collective school amount of $15,000. The run and glow party are fun events planned by our PTO board members. Thank you to everyone who plans to volunteer their time and/or money to help make events a success!
Our PTO is planning some fun extra activities for our students and families. If you are not a friend of the PTO facebook page, please look this up as it contains great information about what our PTO supports.
School begins promptly at 8:40 am. Students should not be in dropped off before 8:35. If you need to drop your child off before then, we offer School Age Child Care. They can be reached at 810-591-6083. If your child is late for school, we ask that you please accompany them into the building and sign them in at the office. Please make sure to watch out for our busses in the morning. Please do not cross in front or in between our busses in the parking lot. It makes our bus drivers very nervous when they have students and adults crossing where they should not. Thank you for helping us to keep everyone safe.
If your student is eating breakfast at school, they may enter the building through the main doors at 8:25 a.m. Breakfast is served until 8:45 a.m. as students need to be in their classroom by 8:50 so they don't miss instruction.
The morning is a very busy time for our staff and we want to provide you our full attention. If you need to speak with your child’s teacher, please contact them to make an appointment. We appreciate your cooperation.
We are glad to welcome parent volunteers to our building. All volunteers will need to sign in at the office, and report to their teacher for instructions. If your teacher is in need of having a volunteer in the room, they will reach out to you.
We have an exciting month planned with many activities and events. Please be sure to check your teachers' news for important info too.
Educationally yours,
Jamie Wagner

Rocket Run!!
Each year the PTO plans a lot of events for our families. We like to keep the costs of these events as low as possible. In order to do that we do have to fundraise. Our biggest fundraiser of every year is our Rocket Run. This is a school wide fundraiser where prizes are awarded in each grade level. In the past we had students raise a specific amount to qualify for the larger prize of a party after school hours. However this year we are setting a school wide goal. Every dollar raised counts towards our goal of $15,000. If we reach our school wide goal by the date of the Rocket Run, the PTO will be holding a Glow Party with everyone invited!!
Packets with additional information went home in your classroom packets at Open House. If you were unable to attend Open House, look for your packet to come home during the first week. Once again this year online donations will be accepted and encouraged. See below for the online donation link. Copy and paste the link on Facebook, in emails and texts to encourage more people to donate. Make sure to tell your friends and family to include your students name when making online donations. We will also accept Venmo payments.

Medication at School
Our goal is your child’s safety and your help is needed to achieve this goal! Students are not to carry medication without orders per district policy.
All medication authorizations must be renewed at the beginning of each school year. The order is good for one school year unless shorter time frame ordered by physician. Authorization forms must be completed for both prescription and non-prescription medications.
- Each medication needs its own authorization
- Refill of the medication is the responsibility of the parent/guardian
- Expired medication will not be administered
- Action plans for health conditions such as Diabetes, Seizures, and Allergies must be completed every school year
- Unused medication will be discarded unless picked up by the parent/guardian on or before the last day of school
- FOOD ALLERGIES: Dietary restriction form is available on the Food Services department webpage, foods can be substituted with a form on file, including gluten free options!
Additional information and forms can be found on the Grand Blanc Community Schools web-site, Health Resources.
