WEBER: Moving Up
Getting Ready for Middle School
The next chapter...
Dear 5th Grade Families of Guggenheim,
Assisting your child in their transition to Middle School is an important and exciting process. It requires knowledge of the skills, policies, and relationships that help students move from one educational setting to another- in this case, from Guggenheim Elementary School to Weber Middle School.
As we begin to prepare, the first step toward a successful middle school experience is a effortless "middle school transition." This year, navigating the Covid-19 Pandemic and ensuring a positive and smooth transition is even more of a priority. In an effort to assist in this transition, I am providing a brief schedule of events designed to help all entering Weber students & families. Some you may have already attended, some to come.
Secondly, I encourage you to talk with your child about their upcoming decisions. Transitioning to Middle School is a milestone in maturing with possible environmental, social, psychological, and physiological changes for your child. I encourage you to begin a dialogue with your child about the opportunities and challenges ahead. You are your child’s most influential teacher. Engaging your child in meaningful conversation, a little bit at a time can help ease their worries and your worries too!
Additionally, please be sure to check out Weber’s website and the Port Washington School District Online School District Calendar. Resources and website information are below.
Always feel free to reach out to me and your child’s fifth-grade teacher with any questions or concerns you may have about your child’s transition to Weber.
Kind regards,
Arzu Alkan
