Welcome to our Quarter 1 Newsletter
What a wonderful first quarter we have had this year. Every day I come to work and am in awe of our amazing teachers and incredible students. Sunset is filled with so much life, joy, and learning every day. The past two months we have enjoyed:
- Seeing our athletes perform and grow
- Many students and staff participate in the Parade
- Mariachi students play at the Longmont Arts Festival
- Vex Robotics team having their first competition
- Many after school activities in full swing such as STEM Accelerator, STEM Explorer, and the Fall Musical
- Fall Crawl
- Learning in class every moment of every day
- Partnering with parents and eating the amazing food provided!
Thank you for all you do to make Sunset such a special place. We have the best parent community that supports and appreciates the entire Sunset community!
Sincerely,
Alicia Bono; Principal

π« Attendance Matters π
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow
Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student's academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school. Even as a children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students get to school safely every day and understand why attendance is so ikmportantfor success in and in life.
We. realize some absences are unavoidable due to health problems or other circumstances. But, we also know that when students miss too much school, regardless of the reason, it can cause them to fall behind academically. Your child is less likely to succeed if he or she is chronically absent. Research shows:
- By 6th grade, chronic absence is a proven early warning sign for students at risk for dropping out of school.
- By 9th grade, good attendance can predict graduation rates even. better than 8th grade test scores.
