Hello Folks and welcome to the 5th edition of Dorm Happenings here at Howser dorm on the campus of KSB. It has been another fun and exciting week here on campus as we have been very busy with our dorm students this week. As we began on Sunday with a breakfast casserole meal prepared by dorm staff for the students. We had an open gym with students and they rode bicycyles, rode scooters and listened to music in the recreation gym. Also had some time to catch up with students about their weekend and if anyone needed any extra help with homework that did not get finished over the weekend. On Monday night after a fine supper time meal was provided by Ms. Renee and our cafeteria staff we embarked on a new adventure with elementary students doing bike riding and outside playground time. Then middle school and high school students had time in the new recreation area with billards, shuffle- board and frisbee golf in the gym. This was a new adventure for most all of our students. On Wednesday the elementary students went on a field trip to visit President Zachary Taylors gravesite in honor of Constitution week and that he is the only former president that is buried in Kentucky. Then they were treated to a McDonalds Happy Meal. On campus this night our middle and high school students had supper prepared by Ms. Tamika and our cafeteria staff. After supper the students embarked on a new game of Jinga and Reverse Jinga and the winning team was Jose E. and the gang. After that competitive battle we had another fun event of Tug-O-War and this was another furious event that took almost 3 minutes to determine a winner. In the end it was Evie V. And her team that came out victorious. It was an excellent night that was capped off with events in recreation center of shuffleboard, skeet ball and pool. On Thursday night we had another fine outing with the elementary students spending time in the recreation gym on the bouncy mat and scooters, with some frisbee and shuffleboard games with students and staff together. To finish out a busy week here at the Howser dorm we had a September birthday celebration with pizza, ice cream cake and cupcakes. Then we had free time to relax for the night as students were relaxing after a long and busy week.
As we come to a close this week, we have had some sad news that has affected one of our most beloved students and our entire KSB family. In the midst of such sad and trying times I wanted to share this quote with you:
What we once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us.
Helen Keller
Please keep H A and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
