2024-08-19 Weekly Update
The first day of the school year is just a few days away! On Wednesday, August 21st, we are looking forward to welcoming all of the Cardinals to Golf Middle School for the 2024-25 school year! Whether you’re a returning member of our GMS family or joining us for the first time, we’re so glad to have you with us. As we approach the start of the school year, we want to share some important updates and reminders to help everyone get ready for an amazing first week of school!
A big thanks to the volunteers who came and helped with 5th grade orientation, schedule pick-up and locker set-up this week. We couldn't have done it without you! It takes quite a team to get the train moving down the tracks, and you were an integral part of that effort and team. Thank you for your dedication to Golf!
Please take a moment to review our calendar. As you will see, we have many events occurring within the first month of school. One of those important events is our annual Open House. This year, Open House is scheduled for Thursday, September 12th from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Open House is always a well-attended event for which we are all grateful for your attendance. As in the past, additional parking is available next door at the bank.

🎤 Golf Middle School Choir
Is your student excited about singing? We are thrilled to announce that registration is open for the 2024-2025 Golf Choirs! Students in 5th and 6th grades can join the Cadet Choir, while those in 7th and 8th grades can become part of the Concert Choir. If your student is interested, please fill out the Golf Choir Registration Form to sign them up.
Completing this form registers your student for choir. A choir fee of $65 will be assigned to the student's account and can be paid via Campus Portal. If you have any questions or concerns about the fee, please don't hesitate to reach out to Mr. Hopkins.
Rehearsals will be held before school, with an early bus available as part of the choir fee. Your student can ride the early bus even if they don’t typically use bus transportation. Please indicate on the registration form if your student will need to use the bus, so we can arrange the route accordingly.
Morning Rehearsal Schedule:
- Cadet Choir (5th and 6th grade): Monday and Wednesday, 7:30-8:15 a.m.
- Concert Choir (7th and 8th grade): Tuesday and Friday, 7:30-8:15 a.m.
If you have any questions about the choir program, please contact Mr. Kohring at ekohring@golf67.net. We look forward to a fantastic year of music!
🏐 Girls Volleyball Tryouts
Get ready for the upcoming Girls Volleyball tryouts, scheduled for Tuesday, August 27, and Wednesday, August 28! Sign-ups for tryouts will take place at the start of the school year.
Important Reminder:
If your student plans to try out for Girls Volleyball, they must have a current sports physical on file in the nurse’s office. No physical, no tryout—so please do not wait! Sports physicals are generally valid for one year and one day, so if your student has participated in sports before, double-check to ensure their physical is still current.

PE Uniforms AND Heartrate Monitor Straps
If you ordered a PE uniform or a heart rate monitor strap during online registration, students will receive these items from their PE teacher during the first few days of school.
⚽ 🏐 Cardinal Athletics: Important Information for Fall Sports
As the new school year kicks off, Cardinal Athletics is excited to announce the start of our fall sports season, featuring Girls Volleyball and Boys Soccer. Most of our sports are open to students in 7th (JV) and 8th (Varsity) grades, but we may extend opportunities to 6th graders depending on interest at the 7th and 8th-grade levels. These sports are a great way for students to stay active, build teamwork skills, and proudly represent our school.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT
If your student plans to try out for our FALL Sports Girls Volleyball or Boys Soccer, they must have a current sports physical on file in the nurse’s office. Please do not wait—students cannot try out without meeting this requirement. Physicals are generally valid for one year and one day, so if your student has participated in sports, ensure their physical is still current.
TRYOUT INFORMATION
Sign-ups for tryouts will occur at the start of the school year. Volleyball tryouts are scheduled for Tuesday, August 27 & Wednesday, August 28.
Stay tuned for information on Boys Soccer.
We encourage all interested students to participate and show their Cardinal spirit!
