About L.E.T.S. Save Lives
L.E.T.S. Save Lives: An Introduction to Suicide Prevention for Black and African American Communities is a presentation created in concert with an Advisory Committee of experts in Black and African American mental health and suicide prevention, designed to reduce cultural stigma, foster conversations about mental health, and raise awareness of suicide prevention for individuals who identify as Black or African American. The program is grounded in research and delivered by trained presenters who identify as having lived experience within Black and African American Communities.
Erasing Mental Health Stigma in the Black Community
The Black community, and truly all communities, can engage in four activities to help get rid of stigma around mental illness.
Communities of African descent
In the U.S., African American communities face mental health conditions at similar or lower rates than white Americans, but historical and ongoing racial trauma significantly affects their emotional and mental well-being.
Black History Month
This is a brief list of Black and African American mental health resources.
Note: MHA uses "Black History Month" to include those with unknown ancestry or non-African identity.

Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are serious and can be life-threatening. In addition, people with eating disorders are at higher risk for medical complications and co-occurring mental illnesses, including depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders.
