PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia Ora,
I hope all our Dad’s, Grandad’s and stand-in Dad’s had a relaxing Father’s Day with their families. Wasn’t is a lovely spring weekend? We had a perfect day for the last day of soccer too, with lots of food sold at our stall. Thanks to Shanelle for organising the shop and being at the grounds early on a Saturday morning. Also, thanks to all those families who have been able to assist at the soccer fields this season. As they say ‘Many hands make light work’.
Last week was another busy week with a variety of things on for our students: Chess Tournament, STEAM Day with the Kahui Ako, Father’s Day gift buying, Gym Competition at Te Puke, Totara team celebrated Mass with the parish, and the Speech and Poetry finals were held. Thank you to all those staff members who helped in some way to make sure that these events were successful.
Our Mini Munchy Makers this week was all about meat. The children who are finalists watched cooking demonstrations of chicken and bacon bites, crumbed fish, spaghetti bolognese and steak in various forms. Each group then explained the process of creating their dish, what variations could be made on that dish, and then we all got to taste test the delicious food. Things are hotting up now! We have our final demonstration next week and then the children will be working in groups to plan a three course meal in a final competition during the last week of the term.
Could I please remind families who pick their children up from the Church carpark, if you are parking in the carpark, please exit your vehicle and come and collect your child. Tooting and beckoning your child to run to your vehicle is unsafe as there are vehicles moving around in the carpark constantly. We need to keep all our children safe.
Have a great week, here’s hoping for some more sunshine this weekend.

Deputy Principal

This week we celebrated the Nativity of Mary with a Liturgy led by the Year 2 children. Well done to all our readers and participants. It was a lovely celebration for Mary’s birthday. The Church has celebrated Mary’s birth since the Sixth Century.
Saint Augustine connects Mary's birth with Jesus’ saving work. He tells the earth to rejoice and shine forth in the light of her birth. “She is the flower of the field from whom bloomed the precious lily of the valley. Through her birth the nature inherited from our first parents is changed.”
Everyone loves to celebrate their birthday, it is such a joyous occasion. Each time we celebrate her we can hope for an increase of peace in our hearts and in the world.
I hope you are all keeping well.
Have a wonderful week.
God bless.
Lorna Dobson, DRS.
