Student Schedules
August 17, 2020
Welcome back Panthers!
In the past, if there has been a schedule issue, we normally send students to see the counselor. Due to COVID, know that the counselor will still be available, however students/teachers will need to reach out to her via email. Students will NOT receive a schedule change unless:
1. They’re missing a period or a core class – teacher will send an email with student name/ID and note the issue.
2. Duplicate period or class (NOT academic mentoring)-teacher will send an email to counselor during the duplicate class, include name and ID.
3. There’s an overlap of time between two classes.
4. Questions about the schedule/classes
NO SCHEDULE changes will be made at this time unless they are extenuating circumstances as those listed above.
Students who did NOT come by in the last 3 weeks to pick up a schedule and/or technology will call the school on Monday morning to schedule an appointment to pick up a device. Email Ms. Raynayeke for a schedule: jratnayeke1@saisd.net.
We are expecting ALL students returning to Travis to log in on Monday morning and connect with their teachers.
Sincerely,
Adrianna L. Arredondo

Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer for SAISD Families
Application deadline extended to Aug. 21 for Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer
We understand some SAISD families have been having issues applying for the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT), a one-time benefit for families who lost access to free or reduced-price meals due to school closures. Because SAISD provides free meals to all students through the Community Eligibility Provision, all SAISD students – regardless of household income – are eligible to receive P-EBT benefits.
Families across the state also have experienced challenges. To ensure all eligible families have access to the funds, Gov. Abbott has extended the deadline to Aug. 21.
The application is available online at yourtexasbenefits.com/Learn/PEBT.
If your application is denied, please contact the state and follow the instructions for appeal provided in the denial letter. For more information, visit hhs.texas.gov/PEBT. If you need help filling out the P-EBT application, contact (833) 613-6220.
Texas Health and Human Services is administering the program, and SAISD has been in contact with the state agency to address the issue of SAISD families receiving denials – despite their eligibility – to ensure the District is doing all it can to support the process and our families. The state has assured SAISD it will update their lists and review the denials again. If you are having issues, please continue through the HHS appeals process.
The $1 billion benefit program was approved by the United States Department of Agriculture to help eligible families buy food during the COVID-19 pandemic. The one-time benefit of up to $285 will be issued on an EBT card, which can be used as a debit card to assist families in buying food from any retailer that accepts the Texas Lone Star Card. Families are encouraged to keep the card in case future benefits become available.
Families who received SNAP benefits for March 2020 and have children 5 to 18 years old as of May 17, 2020, do not need to apply for those children. These families received P-EBT benefits on their current Lone Star Card in May. All other eligible families should apply for P-EBT online. This includes families who received SNAP benefits for March 2020 and have children under 5 and between 19 and 21.
P-EBT benefits are in addition to SNAP benefits, curbside summer meals, and other nutrition resources. Receiving P-EBT will not affect a family’s ability to receive other benefits. Families will have one year from the date the benefits are issued to use their P-EBT food benefits, which are non-transferable.
If you have questions about how to navigate the system, you may also call SAISD Family and Community Engagement at (210) 554-2210.
