January 26, 2025
Dear Families,
This weather has definitely been cold, but beautiful. I hope everyone is able to stay warm and enjoy it. The snowflake appeared briefly on my weather app, but true to form, it left and is now back. We’ll see what happens as we get closer to the weekend.
Thank you for your work on keeping our parking lot running smoothly at the end of the day. We’re still getting 99% of our students loaded and on their way by 3:45, but can continue working on not blocking others in and following the flow of traffic. We have three adults assigned to ensure things run smoothly. Mr. G mans the crosswalk, Ms. Bri and Ms. Heather connect students with adults at opposite ends of the sidewalk. I get out there when I can and teachers are there to monitor their students. However, we don’t have enough people to get out into the parking lot and I’m also hesitant to put my staff at risk moving between cars when the solution is for everyone to simply be patient, kind, and system oriented. Also, please remember that school is officially out at 3:30. So, connecting 150+ students each day in 15 minutes or less isn’t too shabby.
Please remember that this Friday is a 12:30 early release so that teachers can participate in professional development.
Thank you to everyone who was able to come out and enjoy some Books and BINGO on Friday evening. Thank you well to our wonderful PTSO for organizing another great community event and for our staff members who gave up some of their Friday evening to ensure things ran smoothly.
Basketball starts this week for students. If your student was randomly selected, they should have received a welcome letter. Please ensure you download Talking Points and join the class code for updates on practices and games. Practice starts right after school and ends at 5:00 PM. If your student takes the activity bus, someone must be present when the bus arrives at your stop. 1st grade practices on Mondays, 2nd grade on Tuesdays, 3rd grade on Thursdays and 4th grade on Fridays.
This coming week your child will be bringing home information on our annual Candy Gram fundraising program sponsored by our Bordeaux Elementary PTSO. Please be sure to carefully read the information on the flyer for specific directions. Order forms will be due back to your teacher no later than Friday, February 7.
This past Wednesday Bordeaux Elementary hosted the Rotary Club of Shelton Skookum. With our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Beutel and School Counselor, Mr Wirzbicki as the hosts we provided them a wonderful breakfast as an appreciation for all the support they have provided to our families. For almost 15 years and more they have helped over 355 families! Our school wanted to take the opportunity to personally thank them and share the wonderful programs going on here at Bordeaux.
On Friday the Mason County Association of Realtors came to Bordeaux Elementary and presented a check for $300 to go towards the purchase of school supplies for our students and families. We greatly appreciate this generous donation and again want to thank the association for their continued support of our school.
Lots of great things are happening at Bordeaux and as always, it’s a great week to be a Bordeaux Bulldog!
