Final Exams Begin June 12
Final Exams for all courses begin on June 12th. Some classes may have two-hour sit-down exams while others may have project-based assessments. Teachers have been communicating this to students, and it is important that students are in attendance through the last day of exams on June 17th. June 18th is a makeup day for students who missed their finals.
Order of exams:
Day 1 (6/12): R1 & B1
Day 2 (6/13): R2 & B2
Day 3 (6/14): R3 & B3
Day 4 (6/17): R4 & B4
Day 5 (6/18): Makeup Exam Day
- First Exam 7:30 – 9:30 A. M.
- Second Exam 9:40 – 11:40 A.M.
*All make-ups or requests to take exams at a different time must be approved by the school administration. Only extenuating and/or emergency reasons will be considered
*All students must remain in their classrooms until the entire two-hour testing period has concluded.
Summer Assignments 🌞 📖
What You Need to Know About Summer Work at NFHS
Summer assignments may include:
- Summer reading for English classes
- Assignments in AP and/or ECE courses
- Math practice
In these courses, summer assignments may be used as part of initial lessons, and should be completed so that students can fully participate. While the summer assignments themselves will not count as a stand-alone grade in a course, since the students will not have not worked with a teacher, the assignments are important to complete, since early assessments in the course will include information from the assignments. We don't want students to leave assignments until the last minute, and create a stressful beginning to the school year. While students may not know who their teacher is yet, you can be assured that summer assignments are consistent across all sections of a course (if applicable).
Assignments will be posted to the school website, and an email will be sent when all assignments have been posted.
Students In Action
Unified Track
The new Rebels Unified Sports Track team competed for the first time last week in a meet at Bunnell High School. Our athletes of all abilities had a great time as part of the Rebel team!
Unified Theater
Our Unified Theater group did a great job developing, writing, and performing their show, "Disney, Universal, the Cub and the Ring" on May 23rd. You can see it below!
STEAM Expo
Students in Miss Kraus's (Bio and Physics) and Ms. Risch's (chemistry) classes participated in the STEAM Mini-Expo at New Fairfield High School. All 13 groups presented their yearlong projects to the entire group of students in the form of powerpoint presentations. Each group also created a "booth" with a display board and other items for the "walk around" time so that the students could discuss their projects with each other (and other visitors) a bit more informally. In addition to their projects, students have been developing skills all year that were brought forth during this Expo. Congratulations to all of the participants!
All-Sports Boosters- Call for Leaders
Step Up to Support All Student-Athletes!
As the school year comes to a close, we want to start the conversation about transitioning the role of co-presidents of the AllSports Booster Club to members of the New Fairfield High School community.
The AllSports Booster Club is a valuable asset to the high school athletics department in support of our coaches, athletic programs, and, of course, student-athletes. And it takes the support of a dedicated team of parents who believe in its purpose and mission.
If you are interested in stepping into this important role, please reach out to start the conversation. Please spread the word to anyone who may be a candidate to play an integral role in continuing the good work of the club.
Remember that you do not have to do it alone. It should be a team effort, as Deneane and I have done for the last four years.
We are looking forward to seeing the club continue, and it can only happen with the support of parents.
If you are interested, or just have questions feel free to reach out at nfhsboosters@gmail.com
Scholars Night Thanks!
Community Generosity is Appreciated!
This week, over 80 members of the senior class were awarded over $100,000 in scholarships generously donated by community organizations, families, and individuals. We are incredibly grateful for this generosity, which will allow our students to pursue further education, careers, passions, and interests beyond high school!
