Spelling Bee
On Thursday, January 17, Oak Grove held its annual school spelling bee. Twenty-five spellers from 4th through 8th grade competed for two hours until we had a winner. Fifth grader, Advit Tata, won the bee with the word "emu". Our runner-up is Deep Penmetsa. Advit now moves on to represent Oak Grove at the regional bee in February. Congratulations to all of our spellers for bravely spelling at a microphone in front of 75 people.
K-5 Health Topics
In this month’s issues of The Great Body Shop, several sensitive topics are covered including safe touches vs. unsafe touches, personal safety, refusal skills, and getting help from trusted adults. Since these topics were already covered through SEL lessons in October taught by Susie Kiefer, these topics will not be addressed through Health classes this month. However, the magazines may serve as a valuable resource for families, so your child(ren) will be bringing the magazine home. If you have any questions, please visit the website to review any lesson topics or reach out to Alexa Dunn, Director of Teaching & Learning (adunn@ogschool.org).
Upcoming updates for School Registration, Fees, and Payments
We have some important changes coming to help streamline school registration and fee management!
Starting with the 2025-26 school year, all student registration will take place entirely within PowerSchool. This means all parents will need a PowerSchool account to complete registration. More details and step-by-step instructions will be shared in the coming weeks and months to ensure a smooth transition.
Viewing and Paying Fees in PowerSchool: We are in the process of adding any unpaid balances to PowerSchool, allowing parents to easily view outstanding fees at any time. If you believe a balance is incorrect, this will give you a chance to review and reach out with any questions.
New “Make A Payment” Shortcut: Parents will now be able to click the “Make A Payment” button in PowerSchool to be taken directly to RevTrak, where they can see a list of assessed fees and complete payments. PowerSchool does NOT receive or store any financial information—it simply provides a shortcut to RevTrak and updates whether a fee has been paid.
Stay tuned for more information.
