The Cherry Creek School District cordially invites you and your family to join us on Saturday, Sept. 9, for our 13th annual Veterans and Military Appreciation Event and Community Celebration. This free event offers fun for the whole family while honoring our nation’s heroes.

The day begins with a special luncheon honoring veterans, military members, and their families. It will take place from noon to 2 p.m. in the Cherokee Trail High School cafeteria.

You won’t want to miss the Community Celebration from 2 to 5 p.m. in the east parking lot. You’ll experience military aircraft, Air Force STEM activities, see the Honor Bell ( https://www.honorbell.org/ ) learn about the Quilts of Valor ( https://www.qovf.org/) visit the Army National Guard gaming trailer, and much more, all while listening to music performed by the Fountain Fort Carson 4th ID Rock Band.

Stick around for the Smoky Hill Buffaloes vs. the Overland Trailblazers football game at 6 p.m. All veterans, military members, and their families get free admission to the game.

Landsharks is a non-competitive youth program that introduces running to young athletes in a safe and fun environment and focuses on self-improvement, being an encouraging teammate, and making new friends. The Fall XC Series will be led by
Erin Hess and is open to students K-5th graders. A MAROON team shirt is required ($16) if this is your first season running.

Practices will be held at Sagebrush Elementary on Tuesdays and Thursdays
beginning September 12th from 2:45-3:30 pm through October 10th

Meets are requested at Horizon Community Middle School at 2:00 pm
on Sunday, September 24th, October 1st and October 8th (Pending District Approval)

Runners run one of the following distances:
Kindergarten – 1st Grade: 1/2 mile
2nd – 6th Grade: 1 mile OR 1.5 mile

At the meets, runners receive a race tag with their number, ribbons and a series medal at the final race. Race results are available through the Landsharks website.

This high-energy dance class uses the latest age appropriate hip hop and pop music coupled with dance steps influenced by some of today's finest dance choreographers. Students will learn trendy and old school styles, always emphasizing each dancer finding their own individual swagger and style. Hip hop is a fun, high-energy way to express oneself in a big way! Family & friends are invited to the final 15 minutes on 12/21/23 to see what the students have learned.
