Freshman Ready
In the Chehalis School District, preparing students for the journey ahead doesn't just mean life after high school. We create student achievement by walking alongside all of our students in every leg of their educational journey and supporting them in every transition they will face. One major change is the transition from middle school to high school.
Next week, counselors from W.F. West High School will be visiting 8th graders at Chehalis Middle School to talk about registering for high school classes. Counselors also invite all families of next year's W.F. West Freshman Class to the Future Bearcat/8th Grade Parent Information Night, scheduled 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 27 in the W.F. West Commons. This is your opportunity to:
- Meet staff from various W.F. West departments as well as our counseling staff
- Learn about the transition from middle school to high school
- Learn about student educational programs
- Be advised about graduation requirements
- Learn about the process to register for high school classes
Freshman transition specialist Adrian Jimenez and W.F. West Multi-Language Learner Specialist Alicia Walters as well as some of the members of W.F. West Estudiantes Unidos will be on hand to help Spanish-speaking families who may need assistance with translation.

What Comes Next?
All incoming Freshmen who are current Chehalis Middle School 8th Graders need to have their BLUE Class Registration Worksheet turned in no later than Friday, March 29. You may turn them in at Future Bearcat/8th Grade Parent Information Night on March 27 if you have them ready.
Once students register for next year's classes, they will receive their schedule for next year during Freshman Link Day, usually held in August a week or so before school starts. This is a fun morning of activities where our new freshman:
- Meet W.F. West Leadership students and upperclassmen they will have CCR with
- Have their photo taken and pay for items such as their ASB card, yearbook and sports fees
- Learn the W.F. West Fight Song and The Bearcat Way
- Tour the campus and see where they will have classes
- Meet some of the staff they will get to know over the school year
