Coronavirus (COVID - 19) - BHS Update
This week, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) released a statement regarding the potential for the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the United States. I would like to assure you that Barrington 220 regularly communicates with our local health departments and we are ready to work together in case of an outbreak in our area.
Barrington 220 is following the guidance and expectations established by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Illinois Department of Public Health. Our nurses and staff are aware of the signs and symptoms associated with the virus and are carefully monitoring the health of our students. We will continue to be diligent with all of our cleaning practices in our schools. This includes daily sanitization of high-touch surfaces such as doorknobs, faucets, etc. Staff members are reminded to promote universal precautions among students, including frequent hand washing. In addition, we will monitor all travel for any school activities that may be impacted.
There is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19. The CDC recommends the following preventive actions:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Stay home when you are sick.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if your hands are visibly dirty.
We will continue to closely monitor the situation with our county health departments and provide any updates if needed. Click here to visit our Barrington 220 Health Office web page for more information.
