A Message From the Principal
Dear East Families,
As we head into October, I am excited to share the many ways you can get involved in the life of our school! We have several opportunities for parents to participate and make a positive impact:
- PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization): Join us in supporting school initiatives and helping shape a strong community for our students.
- Watch D.O.G.S.: Dads and father figures, this is a great chance to spend time in the school, providing positive role models for our students.
- Substitute Teaching: We are always looking for substitutes to step in and support our classrooms. If you’re interested, please consider signing up!
- Fall Festival: One of our biggest events of the season, the Fall Festival is a fun way to get involved, and we’re looking for volunteers to help make it a success.
There are also lots of opportunities for students to get involved and enrich their school experience. Programs like UIL (University Interscholastic League), Battle of the Books (BOB), and many more are offered through the school and our partnership with Communities in Schools. These activities are a great way for students to learn, grow, and connect with their peers. Don’t forget to get your kids signed up!
At East, we believe that strong partnerships between families and school are vital to the success of every child. Your involvement, along with your child's participation in these programs, helps create an environment where students can thrive both academically and socially. Together, we can make a lasting impact!
Thank you for your continued support and involvement. We look forward to working alongside you this month and beyond.

East Elementary Principal

Look for a Science Fair permission slip to be coming home soon with your 4th and 5th grade students if you turned in the Science Fair interest form. Remember, the hypothesis and topic of your student's project is due October 7th. If you turned in the interest form, you can keep up with Science Fair information via Seesaw. If you have questions, you can contact our 4th & 5th grade science teacher, Courtney Velasquez at cvelasquez@lcisd.net.
From the Counselor
Going back to school can be a big transition for students and families. This Mindful Minute from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center and TCHATT has some great tips for families!
Join the Watch D.O.G.S.
WATCH D.O.G.S. are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer for at least one day each year at an official WATCH D.O.G.S.® school. During the day, WatchDOGS may read and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well. On the day of their participation, WatchDOGS are given a brief review of their involvement and they wear an official WATCH D.O.G.S. tshirt and lanyard that identifies them as school Watch D.O.G.
So we need all dads, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures to come learn more about this program, have some pizza with us, and sign up to help! We will meet on Tuesday, September 17th at 6:00pm in our school cafeteria! See you then!
Needing to Make Skyward Changes?
Take a look if you need help learning how to add and change emergency contacts and also add people that are able to check out a student.
