Words to The Wise
Westowne Elementary School - September 2019
A Message From Mr. Palmer
Welcome back! What a fantastic opening and three weeks of school! We enjoyed a most successful opening thanks to the cooperation of all students, parents, and staff. The students did a fine job transitioning to their new grade levels and teachers worked diligently to unpack, set up classrooms, organize supplies, and get to know new classmates. Sneak-A-Peek at your Seat and The PTA Sundaes, Snowballs, and Sign-up events were well attended, as well as both the primary and intermediate Back-to-school nights. Overall, we have enjoyed reconnecting with returning students and have met many wonderful new students to Westowne. It is going to be a great year!
In addition to extending a “Welcome!” to our new families, please be sure to welcome the following staff members new to Westowne. A big welcome to Mr. Anthony Schultz, assistant principal, Mr. Jason Largent, vocal music, Ms. Monica Johnson, .2 vocal music, Ms. Marta Biddinger, .2 art, Lisa Tolchin, Occupational Therapist, Ms. Martina Boller, grade one, Christina Impallaria, physical education. Ms. Nicole Dziubla, grade one, Ms. Leah Svat, grade two, Ms. Kelly Brady, grade three, Ms. Taylor McCaffery, grade four, and Ms. Jennifer Howard, grade five, and Ms. Stacie Lauer, Front Office Secretary. Please help us out and make our new staff members feel welcome in their new positions. We will certainly benefit from their skills and expertise!
In addition to our new staff members, you will also notice some changes among grade level teams. Ms. Maria Vicenzi will join the kindergarten team. Ms. Dawn Ingle will join the grade three team, Ms. Dannielle Neral will join the grade four team, Ms. Madalyn Sullivan and Mr. Dan Landel will join the grade five team. Please be sure to congratulate those who are moving to new positions.
Westowne Elementary has enjoyed much success over the years due to the talented teaching staff, motivated students, and supportive families. I encourage all members of the school community to support the PTA by becoming a member, participating in the many school and evening events planned for the 2019-2020 school year, and supporting the PTA fundraisers scheduled throughout the year. PTA memberships are reasonably priced at $8 for an individual membership and $12 for a family membership. Remember, joining the PTA is the easiest way to support the Westowne Elementary community. We would love to surpass 275 memberships this year! We certainly appreciate the many hours our PTA volunteers give for the benefit of the WES students.
In closing, Ms. Pachino, Mr. Schultz, and I look forward to working with all students, parents, and families to ensure that your child has a very successful school year. We encourage you to become involved as we strive to provide the best educational experience possible in a safe and nurturing environment.
