End of Year Awards
Chris Weber Award
Chris Weber was a classroom teacher at Fowler who was truly delighted to see improvement in her students throughout the year. The Weber Family recognizes one student from each grade who has shown the most improvement in behavior, attitude, and academics. This year's class nominees were as follows:
Kindergarten- Graydon Ackerman
1st Grade- JeTT Schrimscher
2nd Grade- Oscar Madrid-Mendoza
3rd Grade- Wesson Whitney
4th Grade- Brady Sutterfield
5th Grade- Travis Welch
6th Grade- Araceli Morales
From the 3rd-6th grade nominees one student is chosen as the overall winner for the year. This student's name is engraved on a plaque displayed in the FGS trophy case. This year’s overall winner of the Chris Weber Award was Wesson Whitney. Wesson’s teacher writes, “I nominated Wesson because he has shown how to Begin With the End in Mind. He put in so much effort both here at school and at home that he ended up reading above grade level. I am extremely proud of Wesson and all of his hard work this year.”
Irene Wells Scholarship
Irene Wells knew the value of good education and wanted every child to go as far as possible. She taught at Fowler Schools from 1978 until retiring in 1983. Mrs. Wells set up a scholarship in 2001 to help students pay for college. Each year a student is chosen from third through sixth grade that has the most improved reading and math scores. A $100 scholarship is designated for the student and held until he or she graduates from High School. Mrs. Wells encouraged all students to save ten cents out of every dollar toward a college fund, not to be used for any other purpose, until they graduate from High School. This year’s recipient was also Wesson Whitney.
Plastic Wrap-a-Thon
Students earned lengths of plastic wrap for their academic growth this year and were able to wrap up the teacher of their choice!
