Staff Awards Season at the WBSD
It’s that time of year again…awards season! Show your appreciation for one or more West Bend School District staff members by nominating them for a Rolfs Educational Foundation Award or Support Employee of the Year Award. Community members, staff, and students can nominate an employee for an award to recognize their outstanding contributions. The deadline for nominations is March 21.
The Rolfs Educational Foundation gives four awards of $1,000 each to a teacher in each of the four categories: elementary school, middle/intermediate school, high school, and special services educators. In addition, there will be up to five awards given from the following employee groups: aides, drivers, clerical, custodial/maintenance, professional technical, and school nutrition. Each recipient will receive a $250 award. Submit nominations online.
High Schools are Holding Charity Week
Several deserving organizations will receive donations through Charity Week at East and West High Schools, held this year Monday, February 24 - Saturday, March 1 and organized by the student council.
This special week encourages students, staff, and families to give to deserving charitable organizations. In addition, members of the student council recruit local businesses to donate as well. It is a great opportunity for the high school students and staff to not only learn about charitable organizations and how they can make a meaningful impact in the lives of others, but also see how the charitable organizations and the businesses strengthen our community.
The deserving organizations that will be highlighted and receive donations include:
Monday, February 24: Washington County Humane Society
Tuesday, February 25: St. Vincent De Paul
Wednesday, February 26: Big Brothers Big Sisters Washington County
Thursday, February 27: Children’s Wisconsin Foundation
Friday, February 28: Wisconsin Guardian Foundation
Saturday, March 1 (Charitable Dance for high school students): Full Shelf Food Pantry
February is Career and Technical Education Month
The Association for Career and Technical Education has designated February 1-28, 2025, as Career and Technical Education Month. Career and technical education classes and clubs increase graduation rates and improve academic performance through meaningful experiences.
East and West High Schools offer more Career and Technical classes and clubs than most other high schools.
In February, watch our social media and newsletters for details on the classes offered in Business and Information Technology Education, Family and Consumer Science, and Technology and Engineering Education at East and West. We are proud to share how these classes and clubs not only engage students, but also prepare them for careers and postsecondary education.
